EA-EB-ED Body Shell Question

Apart from the obvious paint, driveline, engine, interior and exterior add on variations, were there any differences between the body shells for the EA-EB-ED falcons? Such as positions for mounting points for diffs or structual changes?

The only thing I can pick at the moment is the different placement of the battery mounting in the engine bay and in the EAs the bit of metal before the bonnet and after the windscreen is apart of the body shell whereas the EBs/EBs are a plastic pop on material.

Feel free to call me a idiot and say they are exactly the same.

You're right with the EA-EB1 windscreen part differing to the EBII-ED variant.

EB-onwards had side impact bars in the doors, but that's not part of the shell... just thought I'd throw that out there.

I dunno if the firewall changed between the EA & EB (for the 5.0? Like how XF firewalls differed from XD-XE when the clevo was dropped)

Lower control arm mount for diff is different, thinner bush on EA-EB1. But position is same same body wise.
I seem to recall ford spruiking more roll over strength too, but I've never cut up an EA-EB1 so can't compare.

Yeah, either ED or EF copped foam-filled pillars for rollover strength and improved NVH.

EAs have side impact bars too?

EAs also only have a 4" speaker hole in the door vs 6" in the EB.

The boot lid is different to accomodate reverse lights on the EB.

The supports behind the rear taillights are different (there is more metal in the EA).

Parcel shelf is different to accomodate premo sound 8" woofer. This is stamped in but not cut out on late EA2 models as well.

There's a massive list.

From EA2-EB1 there would probably be over 2000 changes here and there.

I work at Ford now so could probably dig up a few of the major changes from the dealer sales guides :P

ED had it in A and B pillar, C pillar is half filled.
It's blue and smells bad when it burns for future reference
Dunno if EBII had it.

Galapogos, EA didn't get side impact beams in the doors, or if they did they aren't as beefy.
I had an ED that had an EA door, you could see where the EBII-ED spec impact beam had been spot welded in by repairers.

Sunny, if I get you SIDO for the Sprint, can you dig up any warranty work it had?

Interesting...

Sales figures and brochure scans would be a very handy addition for the wiki :D
