Stock R35 GTR with an ECU swap runs 11.1 at 124 mph. But its not an E series.

http://www.gtrblog.com/index.php/2008/0 ... k-t?blog=4

GTRBlog was down at the Mackenzie’s Motor Trimming Compak Attak out at Western Sydney International Dragway (WSID) at Eastern Creek today to see the Haltech Nissan R35 GT-R run. In their first run of the morning at 9.30am on a cold track into a headwind they ran an 11.1 @ 124mph using the GT-R’s launch control system. Their second run saw the launch control system disarm itself prior to the start but they still ran an 11.5 @ 125.9mph. Their third and final run saw similar issues and they managed an 11.8 @ 126mph. It must be said that this is Haltech’s first run down the strip in the new GT-R so the launch control routine is still not 100% familiar to all their drivers.

GTRBlog spoke with Haltech on their development progress with the new GT-R and after not much more than a week in the workshop they had already cracked the ECU and prototyped their own full computer for engine management. Right now the Haltech Platinum ECU is running ignition, timing and fuel maps for the GT-R while the standard ECU is still in place for ABS, ATTESSA, accessories and so forth.

While developing and tuning the ECU on the dyno Haltech had tried replacing various sections of the exhaust including the center muffler section including the secondary cats as well as the rear muffler section but saw very little in the way of worthwhile gains. They have since put the exhaust back to standard.

So yes you read that right, standard GT-R, full interior, full stock exhaust, Haltech ECU runs 11.1. It doesn’t stop here though, Halltech hope to see 10’s with a little more development and a strong launch on a good day. I’d say they’re well on their way to meeting this goal.

Follow the jump to read the timeslip from today’s 11.1 at Compak Attak and stay tuned for a full update soon with a photo gallery from today.

Update: Forgot to mention this was on pump gas, everyday 98 RON unleaded. (93 octane US)

But it's not an e-series? How can it possibly be fast?

I am actually hoping that Nissan Oz chooses to only do low-volume importing on these. I would love for the R35 to end up on the SEVS register. You can buy a very good condition R34 GTR for around $35-40k these days. If I can buy one of these in 5 or 6 years for the same I reckon I would wet myself.

8 million yen or thereabouts in Japan, which equates to around $80,000 Australian. Would likely be well over $100,000 if/when they go on sale here.

80k is bloody cheap for a car that's faster than a lot of prestige 'super' car's 4 or 5 times it's price.

Fucking GTR's! They're too damn quick for stock factory car. It's ridiculous... Ridiculously good!

Maybe a few QLD boys can put a SOHC 4L in it, to make it superior... ;)

It's all propaganda, R35 GTR's don't actually exist. They ran the time on GT5 Prologue.

11.1 is 911 Turbo killing. That's nuts.

EL XR8 - With comedic genius like that, you are entirely wasting your intelligence on an internet forum.

Were your parents related by any chance?

if only the GTR was a bit better looking :P

its pretty damn impressive though, low 11's from a stock car, wonder how much 'more' there is in them

The standard GTR has run 7.48, and the V-Spec has run 7.25, though the V-Spec one was recorded by spectators with stopwatches, so it's not official.

The GTR is nuts ....

A 911 Turbo doesn't even compare ...boring, dated shape and interior ...and fuckin 4 times the price!

2 months ago Steve Jones in his 'fabcar' R35 ran a 11.78 in street trim. (stock car)
it hit the speed limiter 3/4 track. so unsure what that would have pulled.
the run is on youtube i believe

Heh nup they ditched the inline-6 for a twin-turbo V6 [VR38DETT]. Fucking quick times. I just wonder why they're not this quick from factory with all the hundreds of millions the Japs spend developing these and with all their previous knowledge..

Every single new car on sale today doesn't go as fast as it can possibly go - they only ever go as fast as the manufacturer wants them to go.

The R35 GTR is absolutely bullshit fast - quarter times only tell 10% of the story - do some youtube and google searches - They are like a mini Veyron at like 4% of the price.

Warranty and reliability issues most likely. Also leaves Nissan some headroom for upgrades in future models.

It's not like they're slow from the factory either. This car slaughters pretty much everything out there in a straight line and around bends.

I know they're not slow. It was half a rhetorical statement [if there's such a thing..]

Emissions, warranty, life of engine parts and drive train components, changes the way they handle etc.

There was an R35 in Targa Tassie, it didn't go too well. It only managed a best of 26th position in Modern Competition class before retiring due to wearing a set of 20" tyres down in 2 days, and not being able to find any replacements. To compare, Neal Bates in his TRD Aurion ran a hell of a lot faster than it, and Glenn Ridge Beat it in his 13 year old Mazda RX7 SP.

3 Porsches, 3 WRX's and 3 EVO's in the top 10, first GT-R was an R33 that finished in 22nd.

Not quite living up to it's Godzilla reputation yet.

Surely if someone had the budget to enter an R35 into Targa Tasmania they would have the foresight to pre-arrange a few extra tyres :?:

Yeah I reckon! 'Sif not take like 10 sets!

Maybe the GT-Rs don't go to well in competition because the habibs do several laps of each main street they pass through, looking for talent?
