POLICE who stopped a car for speeding were shocked to find that all that was holding it together was cable ties.
Police said they detected the car doing 263km/h on the Hume Highway near Mittagong in NSW last night.
When they stopped the 1995 Nissan 200SX turbo, they found its body was held on by cable ties, its dashboard was not secured, it had no back seats and its battery was held in place by a rag and a bracket.
The back of the car was full of tyres and police could smell fuel inside the car.
The driver, a 21-year-old man from Rouse Hill in Sydney, told police he had spent the day at a race track.
He was banned from driving the car until it was fixed and was issued a speeding ticket.
He will appear in Moss Vale Local Court on June 16 on the speeding charge.
If only it was an EA!

Oh sht. Ive got 2 batteries only held in by brackets in my 4wd.
Cable ties ftw. My grille wouldnt be attached to my car without them.

Am I the only one that thinks 263 out of a 200 isn't that amazing?
I mean there's a 99.99% chance it's a drift car, so it's 99.99% likely to have some work done.
And the Hume is 99.99% straight, flat and boring, so holding it flatstick for long enough to get it round to 263 isn't that much of feat.
'95 200 is S14 yeah?

95 is S14, 263kmh outta one of them is easy, japs got 320+ and my housemates BA XT is literally held together with cable ties

I would imagine 263kmh would be bouncing off the rev limiter in top gear. But yeah, remove the speed limiter and you'd think 260 would be there for the taking. Aerodynamics makes a lot of difference above 200km/h, and they're a fair bit more aerodynamic than an EA.

i've done 200 in a magna... 260 in a 200sx doesn't sound that hard.

I have no doubt that it can do 260 ks. Factory limit is 180 kph, but it's easy enough to remove. And yes, I think it is safe to assume that the car was modified.
My point was rather that I think he is a tad mental for going that fast on a public highway. It would not take much at that speed to totally lose control and completely wipe himself out.
Not having a go at anyone or anything, but I personally think it's foolish.
Or maybe I am just boring. That is a definate possibility.

I saw an old Pulsar a couple of months back with the front guard covered in fish and chip paper. It also had a corrugated iron roof rack! I was so busy laughing, I accidently offended the owner. He was walking towards the car and replied "don't laugh". lol
also lol at duck tape.

260 sounds about right, my uncle clocked his worked VS clubsport with ease(speedo stopped at 250km held it falt stick passed that for awhile after).if its worked it doesn't surprise me at all but i dont know to much about the 200sx

Bloody police media.
They make it sound like ALL panels and doors were just cable tied on lol
It was most likely just a cracked front/rear fibreglass bar that had the frankenstein treatment (zip tie scars
).
Although if its 'body' was cable tied on and he was doing 263km/h thats some great feedback for the zip tie manafacturer.

Body secured by cable ties? thats an effort, unpicking all the spot welds from the, wait, being unibody the chassis and body are one? battery held in by a clamp? Looks like im going down to Super barnco for some sky hooks, whilts there i get a rear seat and dump my spare tires on the road side.

the bolts that hold body to chaisis are massive, seriously doube cable ties can hold it down..

I luv duck tape it's holding my temporary sunroof in place, so i don't get wet... I don't think cable ties can help me there
