Let me ask you this

Firstly
We all know in NSW you have to have your P plates displayed on the outside of your car

ok
Who steals a P plate of your car? what is it going to achieve?

Secondly
Who fines $200 and 2 points for not having a back P plate on

Yesterday I noticed i didnt have a back one at work... so I put one one
Then tonight coming home from the drive in, a good 30 min drive at 1am, I didnt speed the whole way (long bush roads) did probably 5 under
Then when Im nearly home... get pulled over, by the same guy who got me for 15 over at 3am the week before, for an RBT and he then fines me for the rear P plate
So I have gotten at LEAST 8 demerit points, a full licence driver can only get 12... I dont think I'll be able to drive until I'm 21, not sure

Now Im not asking for sympathy, I know i was speeding, i just wanna know

Have YOU ever been fined for the stupidest things?

I've also been pulled up 4 houses away from mine and fined for not having a licence on me

You shouldn't get a fine for not having your licence on you - you should have just been instructed to present it to a police station within 24 hours, as far as I understand it.

Bit rough having to have your P plate on the outside of your car - dickheads would just take them because they can, or they may have lots theirs while having man-sex over the boot lid or something, and need one to get home.

What is the fine for displaying a P plate on the inside of your car? Are they reflective? Get one airbrushed onto your boot :P

They need to be displayed on the outside
We cant have them on our windows anymore

And he gave me an infringement, cause i was driving to my friends house to get him to drive me to another friend too see if i left my wallet there

But yeah, it is definatly a VERY unfair rule

might be worth seeing a lawyer mate. THats bullshit how yopu have to have them on the rear.. people will steal them all the time! In WA there is no such rule because it is fucken retarded.
I hope u didnt pay the fine for 'not having your licence' thats bullshit too.

There's different rules in different states about this. In SA P Platers have to carry it all the time, licenced drivers can present it to a cop shop within 48hrs. I've been done for it, although I was happy to take the $62/0 point fine, he gave me the choice of that or a Dangerous Driving charge....

This is a pretty perfect example of what we're talking about in the TMU thread. Have you fucked the cops daughter or something? It sounds like he has something against ya.

Is there a reason NSW have the P plates tucked behind the number plate? It always looks wierd, and I couldn't see it being too good for the paint.

Victorians under 26 have to carry there license with them at all times.

I know how the laws suck. I live on the border, all victorian p platers if they drive into NSW have to have there p plates on the outside of the car too, but in Victoria they just have to be visable.

Im a bit over your speed restrictions too, like 110km/h or even 100km/h zone come upto a red p plater and you are stuck behind them cause you cant overtake or the trucks are getting in first, talk about the driver being intimadated

The license thing is however the fark the cop feels at the time

I have been fined 150 for not having it present - then having to go to the local cop shop within 24 hours

I have also been let off with a warning and they just check their police database

i got dicked in SA while on my VIC P's for not carrying my license. left it at a mates, realised and turned around to get it, then got pulled over and copped a $80 fine. was only about 200m from my mates too. there was 2 cops, i thought the older one was gonna let me off, but the young fella obviously had just finished reading the kent cop manual before he nabbed me. shit stain started tearing strips off of me, threatening me with a $150 fine before the old bloke took over and made it $80. It just depends on the cop you get.

Not true. I got caught speeding (12k over) on the day I had lost my wallet and he gave me one week to get a replacement and show it at the cop shop. Technically, that's the same as not carrying it. Also, on another occasion I got caught speeding and had left my license at my girlfriends place. Cop gave me 24 hours to present it.

Lucky

And the only way we can stop people stealing our P plates is by cable tieing them, but thats still not 100%

and Im pretty sure the reason they need to be on the outside of the car is because of people with dark/reflective tinting with window plates, its very hard to see, especially in the dark

Rivet them to your car... that would be harder to steal.

I didnt loose any points for not having the licence on me, just the infringement

My cousin is a cop in sydney
She says a normaly cop probably wouldnt of fined me, or pulled me over
But the highway cops have nothing else to do and need to make money for the government

It was an XR that done me too

I saw an f6 undercover charge up and pull some lancer over today... the f6 had stickers and shit on it... would NOT have guessed it as a police car until you see the flashing lights :D

But any way its a bloody joke i know how ya feel.

I contacted the police on the license thing in VIC because VicRoads forgot to deliver my full license a while back. The cops said the law was under 26 you had to have it but it's really up to the officers discression.
