good ol LPG backfire blew the PCV valve out, then proceeded to fill the rocker cover with gas, and ignite
this is the result.

haha was it a loud bang?

That happened to Dad's EA a few years ago. It fucked it good. It split the sump as well.

did you manage to dint the bonnet aswell??

my sisters fairmont did that. blew the rockercover into 4 peices. and put a dint in the bonnet.also found the bonnet has bog on it, cost it cracked the bog and paint..
but when it blew it tore off 3 sparkplug leads. the car still runs. it didnt do any damage to the rest of the motor... just covered the exhaust with oil.

but i havent been able to get the ea or the xf to backfire on lpg... since both were tuned properly on a dyno
(the ea did it a few times when i had the gra mixer\carby on it. i put the impco mixer back on)

i forgot to say something about those impco mixers...
if you backfire those hard enough you can split the diafram inside and wedge the mixture tip in the outlet of the gas intake.. i fucked a 225 when the ea backfired years ago. got it tuned properly after putting on another 225

i have some of a gra setup here but i took mine off. i put mine on after i fucked the 225 but i couldnt get anyone to tune it for under 500 :o so it came off.
finding someone to tune it is the hard part. and most places will charge lots cos they can.

yer ive noticed the same thing lately with my eb. It was fine until i decided to have a play with the intake and chucked a pod on. It seemed to be getting too much air as with the pod it idled at such low rpm it shook the car as if it were in an earthquake. I no it was gettin too much air cos wen i put the panel filter back it was almost perfect again, cept if i lifted a courner of it up, therefore bypassing the filter revs dropped and away she shook :P cept now when im idleing its sorta rough.

so if i get it dyno'd would they be able to tune it so that it would run smooth again? or even with a pod?

if its tuned properly on a dyno it should then run correctly with a pod or airbox

i have a pod on mine. mine backfired the day before i was going get it dynoed and shattered the airbox. stuck the pod on in a interim fix.... still havent been bothered swapping it back
we also ran it on the dyno without the pod aswell for a laugh.

i know... the engine bay is in a mess. will be sorting that when i cbf or if i have to do a engine swap.
