Does anyone know of or used any scrap metal places that will give money for things like alloy wheels? No one wants my stupid Snowflakes so I thought I would see if I can get some money from a scrap metal joint. I'd probably get more money that way.
Preferably around South East Melbourne.
Cheers

Cash-a-Car on Colchester Road Kilsyth.
There is also a place on Canterbury road in Bayswater near Macca's heading towards Kilsyth.

Has anyone actually gotten cash for rims at a scrap metal joint?
Hooked, have a look in the showroom and check out the thread about .TUFPAK' for photos.

I have a few times, IIRC it's $2.20/kg for alloy rims where I go.
Be tight and hammer heaps of lead weights onto the wheels

If you take alloy heads etc down, it pays to take the iron rocker gear/valves out, it's worth double the price.

ROFL!
Sorry Luke but I had to laugh. I once hired a trailer for $50 loaded her up with all sorts of shit - 2 short motors, a head, steering rack, trans, lots of rotors, brake calipers, 1 snowflake + various other bits of steel/metal and headed off to pik a part. Got $57 so after fuel costs I lost out but at least I got rid of all my shit, and I knew i wouldn't get jack for it else where.
Just roll them down a hill or something.

Lol.. Gill and I have gone to the Pick a Part joint a few times. They give you SFA, normally enough for 1.5 KFC regular size meals per 1 engine block + 11ty kg's of other shit. Oh yeah and like Gilly hides in the car or I hide in the car whilst it's on the weigh bridge (depending on who's driving), and then when you dump the shit there, the hider runs up through Pick a Part and we get another 70-75kg's worth of $$$. Elite shit cuz.
Last time we went there with a engine block. They were closed so we dumped the cun7 behind some factories and bought our own KFC.

lol cast iron is worth **** all, of course you get no money for blocks. Where I go doesn't even buy it under a tonne. Alloy is actually worth something. Won't be $20 a wheel but it'll buy you lunch for a few days.

The place I go to give you more for bare wheels than ones with weights and valves. I stripped them in the carpark after he told me. You can fill radiators with sand though.

Speaking of stealing scrap metal, there was a thing on the news the other day, heaps of cast steel stormwater drain grates have been knocked off around Adelaide, along with the brass armrests of parkbenches, and a copper/brass water fountain stolen from Government house or something. They caught the nugget trying to sell it for scrap metal lol.
You can fill radiators with sand though.
Ahh so that's why Ford do it from the factory.
