Buying a new ride.

Im looking at selling the EB and getting a BA. I will only have about $15k to play with so im looking at earlier XR6s or later BF XTs. Take note the reason im upgrading is to stop myself from being tempted to do silly things in my car. I want more of a cruiser long haul car then a powerful car. I just got out of court with only a $400 speeding fine so I have to be on my best behaviour now so no more major mechanical mods....

What would you guys recommend for that sort of budget? I will more then likely be getting an LPG conversion on the car. What price are BA/BFs going for at the auctions these days? Mechanically I can look after them because my brother is a ford mechanic so im not worried about any problems associated with them.

Find a cheap XR6T. You should be able to find a BA1 auto for that money.

Nah not interested in a turbo. A turbo would encourage me to fang it and im not doing that any time soon.

Fair enough!

15k will get you a decent XR6 NA or even a nice Ghia etc - auctions are always good for this type of thing, XR6's especially are very common.

Go for a Black Ghia and dump it.

Go for a 6 speed auto BF if you can, they are a lot better to drive than the BTR. XR6 would probably be easiest to find, every man and his dog has had one as a company car. Plus they use less fuel.

If you're not going to modify it or thrash it, have you thought about something that isn't a Falcon? VW Golf, new model Focus, Honda Accord, and theres heaps more. They're FWD so there's less urge to rip heli's in the middle of an intersection too. Don't write them all off without at least driving one, you might be suprised.

I need a large car because im constantly travelling out to the country and what not with 5 people in the car. My brother is a Bayfords mechanic so I would prefer the falcon for ease of maintenance and cheap parts!
