Hi Guys,
I'm trying to remove a wheel at the moment that is fitted with a lock nut and of course I have no key.
It is the type of lock nut where a key is inserted into it. This means, I cannot smash a socket over it as it is perfectly round.
I have tried welding - but unfortunately there is not enough space around the locknut to do it without damaging the rim.
I have also tried turning it by hammering a chisel from the side in an attmept to get the lock nut moving - again, no luck!
Has anybody got any other ideas!
Thanks,
Justin.

Die grinder/dremel, cut a slot into the top off it, chisel with hex body + shifter?
Or get allen sockets and hammer a slightly larger one into the lock nut.
Theres a couple of ideas off the top off my head.

I thought of this too. Got a sledge hammer?

Thanks for the advice guys.
Gave up in the end as it was getting dark and I CBF dragging the car inside, but I'll smash a decent sized allen socket in next week and hopefully that'll work!

I'll throw one up on Monday.
It's probably piss easy as well, I think it was more the lack of lighting and the CBF factor kicking in.
That, and I REALLY shouldn't be allowed to use a MIG!

Nah, couldn't find any, and haven't bothered to buy some.
I have found some specific lock nut removal tools, but I'll just get one of the guy's at work who knows how to weld to weld a nut on for me this week.
