hey guys

if this post dosent belong here let me know where it goes mods,

a mate of mine is looking at converting his ef ghia 6 cylinder to a manual, he has everything needed accept ecu

what sort of ecu does he need? will a standard falcon one do it?

how does it go with the ghia having electrics and the falcon not?

he is also looking at putting an eb v8 into it instead, what "ef/el" parts are needed? or can he use the eb rack, k frame, mounts etc.

i know the wiring is different, so we will need a ef v8 ecu, how different is the engine bay wiring? or will he need to get looms from a ef/el 8 engine bay?

If he converts it to V8, for a manual he'll need a proper V8 T5, which are a lot rarer and pricier than the 6 cylinder version.

Anyway for the manual conversion, as a 6 cylinder, a standard EF Falcon manual ECU will be fine (It'll have to be EF because of the coil pack). If it's V8, you might be able to get away with the manual ECUs from EBII to EL V8s (smartlock). Alternatively you can do a resistor trick on the standard ECU. The electrics aren't a problem as they're controlled by the BEM, not the ECU.

cool thanks mate

yeah he is either going to go v8 auto or manual 6

if he gets a v8 he will want my auto. v8 will be harder i think tho.

yeah it has coil pacls, so a ef falcon manual ecu will do the trick

cool

I just converted my EF XR6 to a manual...I used a normal falcon ECU, and not a tickford 1. PPL tell u different things. turns out the normal ECU gives u more power than a tickford 1 for some reason..
Was very easy to convert it, just the whole pulling the dash out was a pain in the ass.
