Is It Legal?

I have recently installed a 7 inch widescreen LCD into my car, which I mounted on top of my dash in the centre. It's about the size of a mid - large GPS, wondering whether this is legal or not and whether the cops will give me shit for it.

It's not hooked up the handbrake, but at the same time I won't be watching any movies while driving, it just has a better screen for music lists etc.

I figure that seeing as GPS take up the same amount of visibility, that there shouldn't be anything wrong with it :S

Cheers, Mike

As long as it is not playing video and doesn't have the capability to play video while driving, its legal.

if the screen is higher than the top of the dash it is illegal, anything that is mounted to the dash ie screens, gauges, navmans, not allowed to be higher than the highest point. so on a falcon that the highest point is usually the cluster, so if it doesnt sit higher than that it is ok. and it will also depend what cop you get.

Also, it is only legal if it is a "drivers aid" Which means a GPS, Reversing camera, dispatcher system or some sort of air con control thing :)
