Boosted Falcon

hey guys i have a manaul ea falcon and a auto ed falcon i want to turbo ed but i dont know if i should put the manaul in the ed or not will it be good with the turbo or should i just stay with the shift kit auto

u about to have 1000 replies saying swap the transmissions. as far as im concerned manuals are more fun to drive, less power loss to the wheels. however i dont think there is anything wrong with a stall and shift kit on the old BTR

nope.
keep the auto in the ed for turbo.
they generally can handle more power. dont issue of frying the clutch
and a good auto is mint. hi stall and shift kits ftw

keep the auto if your going turbo and plan on running 300+rwhp

unless u wanna swap out gearboxes every other week.

The shift kitted auto can handle boost better than the manual but the manual is heaps more fun. Even still, the manuals can hold up quite well. BLKPHN's old EBMANUL had a turbo and the T5 held up fine. Same with Sunny's EA Turbo. The manual from it is now in Bradman's turbo. SnyperEB is another one running the T5/Turbo combination. Probably the best move would be to run the turbo with the auto, and use the manual EA as a daily.

Put the turbo on the EA and have some fun. When the clutch/ T5 blows on the EA put the turbo setup on the ED. And by the way, if you get around to pulling the gearbox out remember to ditch the chitty 3 bolt flywheel/clutch combo and upgrade to the shinny and smooth EB2 onwards 6 bolter.

Antony, when you start pushing out some decent power the manual is going to be a really weak link - especially an EA T5 with the three bolt flywheel/clutch. For a sedate road car a manual is usually going to have the legs over an equivalent auto - except for higher end boxes like the ZF 6-speed and DSG boxes. Once you start getting some bigger numbers (200rwkw+) the BTR is probably a better option for more consistent launches and times, plus you can get quite a few decent mods to help the crappy BTR withstand some power and hard launches. There are a quite a few other boxes that are much stronger than both options but it all comes down to how deep your pockets are.

So it really depends on how much power you're chasing, how much you want to spend, if you're after fast times, and if you plan on hard launches - especially if you're taking it down the strip.

Manuals are more fun! TKO600 or T56 are your best bet in this area.
