I would say that defently is a Stat writeoff. the metal would be usless. Give it 3 years and it will rusted out like Johns AU
I think in all honesty you would struggle to argue anything other than the fact that the car really was not suited to the job. Not much power, rear wheel drive, not even an LSD (limited slip differential) I would imagine if it is an unmodified car.
I bet the insurance company would take the same view too.

Not trying to pick a fight here (because I really don't side with either one) but it seems that the standard Commodores and Falcons aren't so good for towing as some users might think.
Seems the Falcon's get a bit of a nod over the Dunnydoor's due to having rear leaf suspension and solid beam axles as opposed to the General's IRS suspension.
For decent loads you will also be looking at transmission oil coolers, brake boosters, higher rated towbar, boot bracing, exhaust heat shields, weight distribution hitch, camber kit (if you have cr*ppy suspension, etc.
Now since if you need all that stuff I can't imagine it is a particularly good towing vehicle!!!

The car in the drink is BA Falcon. It has coil independant rear suspension (IRS). And has more power, torque and has a higher tow rating, that's why it gets the nod over the Commodore equivilant.

The Holden fan said that Commodore's better because it has coil springs while Falcons have leaf springs. Maybe on the wagons and utes, but he had no clue!

Posted: August 27th, 2008, 6:09 pmPretty much all insurance companies don't cover the car under sea level unless you specify that on the policy. Sucks to be them. At least it's Acid Rush, easy as to see!
PS it will be a write-off. Engines, transmissions, diffs, ECU's, interiors, roof linings all don't like salt water....

It depends if you were in year 10 in the late 70's/ early 80's.

It depends if you were in year 10 in the late 70's/ early 80's.
