Can anyone please help me...
I just bought a '97 el Fairmont ghia and need to replace the light for the auto gear selector panel and also need to replace the headlight/interior/dash brightness switch. Parts shouldnt be a problem but I cant work out how to remove the gear selector panel or the headlight switch without pulling apart the entire dash.

You take the raido area thing off by unscrewing two screws where the ash tray is. Then two screws under the little rubber mat thingo under the ash tray.

The gear selector panel doesn't require the radio surround to be removed. It's just clipped in and can be popped up with a flat blade.

The headlight switch - Just pull the main knob off, the one underneath it for dash brightness and courtesy lamps will then pop/pull off too. Then there's a large round nut with 2 notches in it. Use some needle nose pliers to unscrew it. To pull that whole assembly out you will need to have the instrument cluster and dash surround off, then pull it out from the back.
