Greetings All,
It is with a heavy heart that I relay the news that my Falcon is no more. I was involved in a nasty accident three weeks ago, which has lead to the Falcon being written off, with serious panel and chassis damage. I wish to thank all who replied/read any postings, I wish you all the best of luck, and many happy miles with your Falcons.
Regards,
Soutie.

Damn. That looks like a big hit. Sorry to see it but the important thing is you're ok. Feel free to hang around on the forums still though. You can still stay.

Holly SHIT that's a big crash!
Just a question:
Did you import the EL XR6 over to South Africa yourself or were a few EL's exported by Ford Australia in the 90's?

I have no memory of the accident itself, all I can remember is heading home after work, the tail began to slide to the right, counter-steered....end of memory. Was doing about 70km/h. Thanks heavens the airbag deployed, else I would have been seriously injured, since the vehicle spun, rolled, and went into a 2m ditch backwards. The seatbelt, however, did it's best to cut off my ear, but 11 stitches later, it's attached again. Still got some sore ribs. Still, a tribute to the strength, build quality, and safety features in the vehicle.

To Serial_Fool
No, I did not import her myself, I was fortunate to find her standing at a second-hand dealer in Pinetown, outside Durban for a reasonable price, and she stole my heart.

Wow, the seatbelt took off your ear? Thats fucked up. Be thankful you had a EL I suppose rather than a earlier model without airbags.
Whats the next step with the car....I wouldn't imagine the local south african wreckers would have any idea on what to do with it.
*edit* ah ok mate cheers, funny to see one so far away from australia.

The remains are probably going to end up in some junkyard, where it will rust into oblivion. Pity, the only visible damage to the motorbay, was the radiator pipe that broke loose, and by that time the motor was probably already not running, so I suspect the motor is still fine. The interior of the car is a bit buggered, considering that she ended up waist-deep in water, boot first.

Holy god damn! You stacked that good!
Good to hear you're ok mate, and you never know, you might come across an EB-ED V8 and realise that they're superior to EL sixes

Whatever you get though, let us know, it's interesting knowing what people drive overseas.

+1 for 4 point racing harnesses...they say seatbelts save lives, but they dont tell you, you can be seriously injured wearing them.
Get well soon
