Sundeep's 2006-2008 E-Series "Daily's"

For someone who's trying to say they've distanced themselves from cars to focus on other areas of life that are more important, I've still fit a lot of f*cking around with E-Series in lol. Most of it has involved the help of Gill and Doug at some stages, but the crazy ideas have all come from the one place lol - me.

In 2006 I got my first full time job, and got sick of catching the train at off peak times for my shift work. It was going to be cheaper, safer and more efficient if I just bought a sensible daily to go to work. So I bought one, a heavily modified EB 5L from Laminge... which had at other stages in it's life sported a NASCAR block and a supercharger. Unbeknown to me until 2 years after selling it, it was also a 347 stroker..

Image

Yep, so that's what it looked like when I bought it. 2 weeks later the kit, wheels and a number of other items were sold including a 9" diff. Once the RW was complete, I put in a LPG system too. Yep, I LPG'd a stroker motor :D

Anyways, after getting sick of the rough idle and a couple of other dramas I sold the car to crackers. The day it was to be picked up I did some mad gutter to gutters just off Colchester Road. They were sick, 5 stars. The car was sold to BLCKED a while after that, and has since been wrecked.

Not long after selling that I picked up Crackers' old EL Ghia. After spending $11k+ on it including purchase price, he got over it and had bought my EB. He took all his ICE out and sold the Koya wheels, and I picked the thing up for $2800 :D

Image

It served me well for almost a year and 20,000km. Never had a problem with it. My bro decided to take it for a joyride one day and smashed the rear right quarter in to a sign post or something, so that was a little disappointing. Didn't do anything to this car besides LPG and de-spoilerage, and installing the original stereo gear back in :)

This car was sold to Kristy, Fordbaby..

Image

The next car that was to be a daily was a EF GLi I purchased for $1500 off a guy on AFF. Spontaneous purchase, just saw it on a Sunday arvo for sale, offered some cash and went to Hampton Park to pick it up. Gill and I then got some shitarse idea to spray it, and ended up going nuts on prep work. Doug came over one cold night and put the paint on, but the cold body rejected it and the paint ran everywhere. Another week or so later, hundreds of runs were buffed out.

Image

Image

Image

Image

The car looked good, but I CBF putting it on the road so sold it to Spope..

In September last year after not owning a daily for quite a few weeks, and looking hard for something decent and cheap to pop up I bought a EA S Pack. This is one my most fondly remembered and beloved cars. A lot changed for me while owning this car, and I do miss it and the times I had in it! I spent a lot of time fucking around bringing the shit paint up, but once paint is shit it stays shit so even though it looked good in pics, it actually still wasn't awesome.

It sported genuine mint condition SVO recaros, a 3.23 rebuilt LSD (oh the fun times) and a 5 speed. It was factory MPI :D A rare beast :P

Image

Image

Image

I kept this car up until February this year, and then decided I'd go back to being sensible and get back in to a EL Ghia V8. I sold it to XRated who then sold it on to Private9's brother.

Anyways, after a very small amount of searching I came across only one EL Ghia V8 for sale with LPG already fitted - at a fairly reasonable price, I put some offers on the table but the owner wouldn't budge so I payed him what he wanted. The car had a lot of add ons and extras that looked shit, the bars and some other trims needed a blow over so the car was pulled apart in the first weekend of my ownership by Gill and I, and we made it all look mint ..

Image

Image

Image

Image

Ok so I was wrong. I couldn't put up with being in something so sensible (even though it was a sick wet weather warrior).. So I set about my normal ways and started looking for something else without telling anyone once again. Not long after buying the EL, SLOXR8 popped up for sale. It had had it's face slammed in to shit a couple of times so looked fucked. Gill and I went and picked it up a day after I heard about it being for sale, and not long after I purchased all the shit to get it all looking schmick again.

Once again, Gill was dragged in to helping me lol. By this stage I'm surprised he's still my mate :P Dirty knt lives all his dreams through me though haha..

Image

Image

Image
A few of you may remember me rocking up to the April Dynomotive Dyno day :D I made a sick entrance. I thought so anyways :P

So it was ready for paint and everything but I hadn't sold the EL or EA as I had wanted to, and this thing sucked down the juice like a mother. I decided it was best to get over it, and stay sensible. So the car was sold to Holmsy who still owns it.

Soooo I drove the EL Ghia for a while more, and then got offered a registered mint condition ED GLi by my cousin for $1200. Soooo I thought, what could I do with that? Ummm I'll buy it and put MRDOSE turbo gear on it ... "Gilll!!!!!!!??". So that next project begun, not hard to get it done because I didn't work for around 2 months. The EL Ghia was offloaded to Tiga_EL for a mint price but I didn't lose anything on it :D

Image

Image

Image

I drove this thing around for about 4 months but got sick of it's oil leak from the drain back and having to constantly fill it with water because of a head gasket and welch plug issue. Didn't get the time (more motivation) to fix it so just decided to sell as is.

Some leb from St. Albans bought it, and just before it sold I bought my current car...

Whilst kicking around on the net late one work night, I came across a neat looking EF XR6 for 2.5k, just out of rego. Hmm I thought, why not, I'll buy it! Rips and I made the trip to Rockbank to pick it up without even inspecting it. It didn't run on gas and had a hard time running right on petrol and the paint and interior looked worse for wear. Still, it had Sundeep's kind of potential.

Gill was dragged in to it once again, and later on Doug too. We pulled all the seats apart and ran the trims through the washing machine.. so the project began lol. Gill and I found a brand new gas converter (Vialle, worth $1200) at pick a part and picked it up for $67. Gill installed it and the car runs 5 stars mint. 400km to a tank!

Then the respray started..

Sooo there you have it. A bit of Sundeep history.

Mind you, in amongst all of these I've bought and sold various shitters, and wrecked a couple too.

Thanks a million to the boys for their help over the years, especially Gill!

Damn that's a lot of cars for a couple of years! You've done well getting several of them looking so good compared to when you got them! Particularly the 3 red ones!

Nice work on all counts! BTW, the EA's still going strong - in fact we have more fun in that thing than I do in my turbo!

Nice one Moondose, you certainly go through cars don't you. I like the first one a lot, it looked great. Sucks that it's been wrecked since.

Nice list! I didn't realise you'd owned so many!

Have you ever found that you've enjoyed punting around in a daily moreso than in MRDOSE (before it got defected)? Due to not really having to worry about shit go wrong, LPG being cheap, etc...

Nice work Sunny, maybe buy an LS1 next? lol

MRDOSE is currently being resurrected, just can't decide whether it's gonna be on the EL or something else...

Yeah daily's are the best. MRDOSE requires too much love, care and attention to be driven daily. The suspension and stuff had no travel, the A/C and heating doesn't work and it had all the standard EA characteristics. It'll hit the road some time again. Not sure what motor / trans combo or what I'll do to it in the distant future, but with in the next few months it should be back up and running in standard form.

Who knows what's next :) Everyone who has to help when I get something is probably hoping I get nothing :P

Yeah that's a good idea. I started a MRDOSE build thread but there's way too much to put in there. The modifications started a couple of years before I even took over owning it, and the pics of everything are spread over 11ty computers and CD's. Just CBF!

Ahhhh good old SLOXR8. Fondest memories are racing DPORTD V2 down Dorset and Canterbury Roads in Kilsyth. Us cun7s were the sickest. Copped heaps of looks and props cruising together lol, even with it looking all manky. Sounded tuffer than the stroker I reckon!

A++ thread, very interesting. I always forget how many cars you go thru. That other Red EF Gli came up mint as after the buff, looks like it's off the showroom floor. Edit: forgot to add, my fav car out of all of those was the Grey EL.
