What lengths do you go to to protect your car from the weather?

This is how EBGLT sits if its not on the road just wondering what other people do?

park it underneath the house. thats about it.

Ancient photo but this is how my car is usually parked. It's either in the driveway or parked on the road. No cover at all, and I don't wash it all that often either. My theory is dust protects it from the UV rays, but it hasn't worked on my right front guard

I have the AU in the Garage under a car cover EB is just under the carport

usually driveway or road. the body is stuffed anyway, the ea is the same but if i know something is coming(storm etc) il try get it in the garage (i live in a share house) as its fairly good cond

my car just sits in the backyard behind our side gate.... previously its been keyed,
and had smashed windows.... damn kids

In the shed. For the MX5 this is always, for the EB only if i've just washed it and won't be driving it.

MRDOSE is normally in the garage. Spent only a couple of months outside in 4 years (out the back not under trees and normally in colder times, not in the sun).

Just on this, I have been wondering about car covers lately. I live in a unit with no carport/garage at all, so my car is always outside. Do car covers work out in the weather at all? I have heard that they can actually do more damage than good, anyone know if this is true?

LTD has spent more time outside than inside. Great to have her inside now.

all our cars are outside all of the time.

Well there are really good car covers available but there are so many i have no idea what to get.
IF some one knows of a good one send me info and maybe we can get a group buy on them

the thing is with car covers is that when it is hot (in direct sunlight) they act like an oven and can actually cause your paint to bubble

havent heard that before - sounds like rubbish to me!

Ive had my car under a car cover for 6 months now.

I had a car cover that was "water resistant" not waterproof, after moderate/heavy rain the car would be dirtier than if it was out in the rain!

Ive now got a 100% waterproof cover and it seems to be doing the job. I think you get what you pay for as the first one was el-cheapo...

Just the other day i chopped the shit out of a gum tree that was dropping shit all over my car too, felt good

it will bake and cause damage long term,

but also bird shit bat shit will seep throught he cover and fook your paint aswell

And the ruffling around of the cover on the car will cause streaks and shit especially when there's dirt between the cover and the car.

The XR8 Sits on the car pad next to a garage covered up and the skyline just sits on the driveway.

'Tis the best i can do since my carport isnt big enough and my garage is a makeshift engine building room

My XE is proof of this the paint on the roof has bubbled and was kept under a car cover.

Is that under a car cover out in the sun?

Under the carport. But sits in the sun for 9 hours a day at work so doesnt really make a difference

EB sits at the back of my old man place with a car cover over it. The 180sx sits on the front lawn, paint on the roof is starting to flake

BA Daily sits on eiher street, lawn or rarely driveway, ED is soon o moved to me old mans carport.

I kept my previous weekend car under a $20 cover in the garage.
was good, because the car stayed clean and dust free.
Because it was indoors the cover did not fall apart.
took 1 minute to pull off and you have a clean car, when u get home put it back on, the car is clean for next time.
Same thing with my current weekend car, except i had the cover custom made.

Usually in the garage under a car cover. Depends how much I have to drive it though. The bike is only transport to get around and have fun. The car is for shopping etc. when I can't use the bike (passengers/have to carry things etc.). Car is also too expensive to run every day.

the FG sits outside on driveway, but it has been spoilt for the last month. been out of the sun 24/7 ... in a Ford dealership on a hoist lol

Garage only. During that massive storm we had in November though it was under a carport and I was standing at the rear of it in case anything came at it in the wind. The next day while cleaning up the back yard I pulled a couple of sticks out of the ground that had been stabbed into it while it was windy. Probably won't be doing that again.

Before mine got resprayed, it sat outside all the time. Now since i got it resprayed (xmas 07) it has probably seen 12 hours total of sun

Look I have a car cover but I don't use it that much. When I have detailed the car and it looks like rain I use it. But then again when it looks like rain I don't detail it.
