written off FBT At auctions

Postby mooseman » January 29th, 2009, 12:28 am

I noticed this written off FBT at the auctions and thought someone from here maybe interested. If your handy with panel beating it doesn't look to hard to fix....

Hmm looks to be more than that the front corner has collapsed so will need all suspension and other parts around that area

yeah mark, but its all falcon/fairmont related stuff,so long as the front upright is ok...
upper and lower arms, shocks and k frame are all normal parts, so should be pretty easy to fix

Rare E-series prices have fallen alot recently. unless its GT (dont even know if these sell for the prices they ask) then people dont want to pay the $$$ for stuff like this when you can get a much better car for the same money these days.

just beware, i have a trade account with them and they have a knack of taking shonk pics so you cant really see the proper damage.... i guarantee the pillar will need pulled on that as well as more damage...you cant always get up to view the thing close up so unless its for spares, i wuldnt bother... but it will be cheap....trailering to brisbane area is 550 bucks.. ive got a guy who does it for that from townsville... 8-)

Seen the prices of the parts!!
$2000 for front & rear seats with door trims & concole lid ect.
$1650 for the complete front brake set up.
$650 for the steering wheel
wheels are $1250 1 has a minor scratch on 1 spoke.
grille is $650
$550 for the diff.

Profit margin ... >11ty million percent!

I went to the Manheim Fowles auction at Bris the other week, and salvage/wrecks were going for fk all. A 89 laser didnt sell for $25, all it needed was a front quarter and a headlight. Most wrecks went for under $100, with a few for a few grand ie 05 commodore v6 which slid into a pole/tree went for $3k, and another for $2k with massive front end damage.

An ED XR6, stolen, recovered, went for $700, and all that was wrong with it was fading paint, a cracked indicator, and just a bit shabby round the edges.

A VT commo with a clubby kit and 18" chromies (new tyres, think it was a 5spd also) one of the cleanest cars Ive ever seen (no chips, no scratches, no dents, looked like it rolled out of the factory) went for $3k.

An 07 Mont went for $15k, <30,000kms.

They would have picked that FBT up for under a grand if prices in vic are anything like Bris.

that FBT was from Bris...
however i highly doubt they woulda got it for under $1k.

more likely a few $K.

$3 or $4k max.

They love the profit. Pricks.

Those $$$ will go towards a super turbocharged GT Typhoon hybrid project and a 50 car garage in his backyard.

Ah I see, I thought it was local.
No seriously, I rekon they would have picked it up for under a grand, plus a few hundy to get it back.
There were ef and el wrecks going for 50-75 bux with similar damage, heck an EF even got passed in at $500 (had that dropped to $250 I would have bought it), and it was a repossessed vehicle, so no damage, running, rego...

Remember when they brought that ED sprint for a few G. stole all the good bits then tryed to resell it at double minus all the good bits?

Its funny, sunny maybe or maynot be able to confirm this, but when you register a car thats been written off you need to produce the original auction receipt? cause I think thats what fucked them in the end with it.
