AU XR6 (VCT) Vs EL XR6 Vs EL XR8 (Series 1)

Im buying a new car relatively soon and am tossing up between these three. I wasn't going to get a falcon but I figure if I can get one thats a bit out of the ordinary it will suffice.

Car 1 - AU XR6 (series 2 I believe)
Its an auto with VCT engine, fresh respray, BA bonnet bulge, tickford bodykit, extractors and exhaust.

Car 2 - EL XR6 1997 model
Auto. exhaust, extractors, 1636 cam, 19s, resprayed in black. body kit.

Car 3 - EL XR8 1997 model series 1.
White auto with bodykit. underdrive pullies, 3.45LSD, shift kit, exhaust and extractors, comes with GT40P heads, 1.6 roller rockers, pushrods and timing chain


Both the ELs are about $7500 with RWC & Reg. The AU being my uncles is about $3000 cheaper but I need to get a VIV and rego.

The main queries I have is;
how are they going to compare performance wise?
I know the 5spd gear out of my EB will go into the EL XR6 but will it go into the AU XR6 aswell with minimal fuss?
What kind of times can I expect from the XR8 with those mods?

save the 3 grand and turbo the cheaper one.... it will then eat the rest for breakfast... all of them at once...

and you have the comfort of knowing the car and its history..

I won't save too much money with the AU because it needs a VIV and RWC and REG which will set me back at least $1000

Those cars arent out of the ordinary.

I'd get the AU if it isnt a series 1. Pocket the $2k difference.

is this new car going to be a project/money pit or just something good to drive? or both?

project id go the XR8 as it should see a half decent time with those mods

Fair enough the XR8 but how many different black EF/EL XRs have you seen getting around? or AU XRs with a bonnet bulge and ticky kit?

I know the cars themselves aren't out of the ordinary but they have something that makes them unique and standout from the crowd.
