In light of "ED Fairmont Turbo" car been stolen it's probably a good time to remind everyone of a few things. Following this guide hopefully will decrease the chances of your pride and joy been stolen.

Garage your car if possible.

Car alarm if possible and/or steering wheel lock at a minimum.

Have insurance and make sure it is up to date.

Be careful driving home making sure you are not followed.

Completing transactions (example selling parts) don't do it from home if possible unless you know the person. If you have no choice get the person/s full name, address & contact details. If the person is unwilling DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!

investing in a decent car alarm would be worth its while especially the day someone tries to steal your car, a baseball bat readily available would be handy to

does smart lock do any thing or should i still get a car alarm its got dark windows so you cant see inside the car all tho there is nothing worth stealing i dont even think they'd bother stealing mags there 15s most want 17s and up.

park your car in a well lighted are no dark back streets
all ways take your keys out wind up all windows and lock car,even if your just going to be 30seconds its all it takes to steal a car.
kill switchs are good dont have them in a normal place tho try to hide it
drive a beat up crappy bomb that every one laughs at that way no one will steal it
i used to lock the steering so that even if they break in start it they wont move because you need the key to unlock the wheels.

hmmm i am going to invest in a cat 1 alarm, not sure what they are called here (uk black wired with seperate immobilser) . if they get past them (and i am sure most thiefs cant) then hell, insurance would need a phone call...

it aint hard to get past immobilisers.... the best thing is to make sure that the cars siren makes the biggest noise possible when some pricks tampering with the car... make sure all door, boot, bonnet switches are wired to the alarm and mount the siren high up in the engine bay so it cant be reached from under the car, also cover the wiring with split tubing so its untracable. i was doin this for a living where i worked and that was just my own personal rules for any decent alarm.

cant ye get black wired alarms here (no colour coding after fitting labels are removed ? ) check these out.... toad and clifford alarms.. dont cost too much at circa 600 bucks fitted but work well... ive had toad alarms on my wrx's and gtb's.. helps sale ( i used to sell jap performance cars) as the insurance companies want them fitted...

course ya can get all black wired.... thats what i was fitting. dual stage immob and extra circuit for relay can make it three stage immob plus battery back up siren and glass breakage sensor. CYCLOPS or Black Widow both get the OK from insurance companies. 300 - 350 fitted was my usual pricing.

cool, not up to scratch with aussie products. need to get one... which do you suggest is best bang for buck ? i have manual windows so no need for total closure...just remote locking and possibly remote starting ? (good to get car cool quicker).

the cyclops is probably best.... they even do one to suit a turbo timer so when u arm u can still have the timer running, it immobilises after the timers finished but still locks and arms. the remote start is actually illegal here in victoria but you could check where u are to see if its ok. the cyclops has an aux trigger to hook that up though. they used to make a kit to add on but i dont know if its available still as i havent been allowed to usem here for nearly 5 years.
