The princes was crazy tonight, cops spotted at almost every intersection. They surely were out in force. motorbikes/divvy/tmu/undercover/ even the astra was out!

if there were two or more car's parked on the side of the hwy for any length of time, you could be sure they got a visit from the boy's in blue.

I think its going a little to far now there is no harm in just cruising in your nice done up car. Racing however is the other thing and thats the thing the police should be out getting people for. Blocking off a car park and defecting every car possible is not a way to do that. Nor is it a way to get respect from the car public. People are not going to go down with out a fight.

However if the cops are all there lets go somewhere else!

but did the cops actually defect all the cars @ KK's or did they just turn up and make everyone leave?

Totally agreed. My car got picked on a bit last night when we were cruising as a group(probably being the oldest, most modified car in our group would do that). After being given the once over on the side of the highway, they gave it a closer look later on when we stopped at Noble Park (so the girls could use the toilet, so we weren't there to cause trouble). If they look at their records they'll see I haven't had a fine since 2002, and have absolutely no history of street racing. I mean the stuff they tried to get me for is probably in better condition than 90% of other EAs. What is wrong with just cruising? Wouldn't it be better for people to be driving around than well... taking drugs for example. ffs I'm over this shit.

It was crazy last night i was talking to a mate and then looked up and every exit was blocked off by aprox 12 cop car undercover and marked cars. Everyone tryed to make a bail for it but they were all stopped and going over each and every car. While motorbike's were going into the gounp and picking out the worst of the cars. I just locked my car up and walked away and watched as person after person tryed to leave but if you left you got a defect. Most cars were too low etc fair enough they got done stokies on the back etc. I was watching some guy get done for having his mirror on his EL xr8 duct taped on ( it all still worked pefectly) they couldnt get him for anything else but minor defect for him. Another guy we were talking to his girlfriend got done for power to weight over loaded with passengers to low etc etc so he got a $365 for too many peoples min $160 for defect and $1000+ fine for power to weight on red P's. and loss of licence. he wasn't inpressed. But he had a nice car though! EX 351 [inflyt]. so after about an gour or more and watching the police go up and down all the cars we just sat and waited. a few police finally left. but there were still at least 8 cars there. after cops going over the last 20 or so cars there including BLKPHN checking tires and intercoolers etc they came up to the group of us and said look if you leave now you may not get a defect but if you stay you are going to get one so we all got in our cars and they let us out with out any trouble...

last night was so fucked!
mates and i were sitting at the kebab joint on princess just after springvale road waiting to meet up with more mates and cruise to KK then out of nowhere 3cop cars came up and defected my mate in his FC for the 2nd time in as many weeks and my mate nearly got done in his S15 but the cops were dumb as **** and didnt see his car on the list of too powerful cars for P platers to drive the dumb ****. so i walked off and mates said they wanted to see then owner of the green EL (me) but i was 300m down the road talking to other mates. thats twice in 2-3 weeks that mates got defected and i just got out of it...dont think ill go cruising the highway next friday.

few people around. and i didnt see a single cop last night. even when ya do they rarely get ya for anything.

was a good night, the motorbike coppa who poped my hood was a champion, we stood around my engine bay for about 10mins just cracking jokes and baging commo's he was loving it.

my car is legal so i dont have a problem with the cops, but still there taking it abit overbourd.

Dear Minister,

I am a self-confessed car nut, I love performance vehicles and travelling at high speed, I also love the smell of tire smoke and watching it pollute the atmosphere. But in my self-confession there is a catch, I like it all legally, Winton, Calder, Sandown, Heathcote Park, South Coast Raceway, Easternats and Springnats.
You may be wondering why would someone aged 23 years old be writing to you (even know I know you wont read it, and some good looking female PA will read it and put it in the processed file aka the rubbish bin) admitting their a car nut, why do you care right? I will tell you why (of course I wouldn’t be writing this letter otherwise) because even though I love going fast, wasting money on fuel, doing burnouts, I only like doing it in a safe legal environment, all other times I just like to drive my car.

I like driving to Mc Donalds drive through and buying some cheese burgers, or the service station to put some overpriced fuel in. I like driving on Friday and Saturday nights, driving to my mates place, driving to a PUBLIC CARPARK and meeting up with a group of mates, who all share the same interest. Their love for cars.
I was quite appalled to hear that the Police are cracking down on people “cruising” as we like to call it, defecting every car that was in the Sandown car park a few weeks ago, then the same last night it Narre Warren. I honestly think our tax money could be spent better. (Actually I thought this when a Golf GTI pulled me over for a RBT one night, Hyundai I30s are a much more fuel-efficient vehicle) The money could be better spent on taking it away from the police force and giving it to Motorsport associations to create more events and legal locations that people with the love for cars can attend.

But we know that wouldn’t happen, taking money away from the Police, helping young people do the right thing, the last 5 years iv never seen anything like that happen.
This is a warning, the police cracking down on people doing harmless cruising, parking in a communal area to discuss their love for cars or what they are doing tomorrow, is only going to force the problem somewhere else.

With our current financial problems, and people loosing their jobs, they are going to spend their money more wisely. Now $20 of overpriced unleaded will get someone possibly up to 5-6hours of enjoyment, driving to a carpark, chatting with mates, checking out other cars etc.
Or $20 will get them a really bad pill, which they will then go out, hit on some females and one of 3 things will happen.
1. They will leave night and just go home
2. They will get angry causing fights, causing hassles for police etc and end up with their face on the news at 6
3. They will end up in hospital ODing or dead.

But that leaves another problem $20 to go out in the CBD of Melbourne? Pfft maybe if you didn’t need food or water you would be right, $20 is the entry to Crown isn’t it?
Stopping people from Cruising and enjoying their love for cars leads to other things other than what I mentioned above, you need more than $20, need about $100, that’s a lot to take out of a budget on a weekly basis, so that also leads to more high potent alcohol being drank, more malicious drugs being taken, assaults, and robbery.

Your most likely going “this guys nuts, how does stopping people from driving cause robbery”. Remember how I mentioned $20 of overpriced unleaded can bring hours of enjoyment. Its this, force people off the streets and they will go drink, take drugs etc, this cost a lot more, maybe they can only afford $20 a week for enjoyment, and they don’t want to sit at home because there’s nothing fun about that, (plus free to air TV sucks) they go “I need cash” so ill go take it from him and that is where your robbery starts.

So seriously now, your department needs to think about it, by all means I’m not saying if Muzza over there rips a burnout in his hetick VL at the corner of Springvale Rd and the Princes Hwy, let him go, by all means go Impound his vehicle, fine him lots of dollars, take his license away. He’s not a car enthusiast he’s a hoon. He would be one of the people that go to Calder to watch the street drags, claims his car is so quick and the only racing he does is on the Melton Hwy on the way home.

Maybe the Police should lay off the people in the car parks, cruising along etc and focus on catching the hoons doing 170km/h in the 50km/h , ripping skids at Noble Park Maccas, street racing in their mums commodore down the Princes Hwy. Because as Iv stated you push people away from doing something they enjoy, it is going to have a flow on effect and push the problem else where, or your going to end up with Noble park riots, which do you prefer?
