Rips' XR6T

Postby Sunboost » February 23rd, 2009, 10:20 pm

Hey Guys,

Just putting up a post on Rips' behalf coz he sucks at posting these days.

He's just bought a '03 BA XR6 Turbo, blueprint with premium sound.

It's got -

- Injectors
- Valve Springs
- 3" dump pipe, stainless cat, Typhoon cat back
- Capa tune

Running I think 14PSI, makes 283kW atw.

Goes hard! Just after picking it up he lined up a manual Typhoon ute and beat it good.

Just looked at a couple of pics I took and they didn't come out too good, was gunna use carsales ad ones but it's already been taken down :(

Oh well! I'll leave it to him to post some tmrw.

283rwkw, sounds like fun! Nice pickup Rips

Maybe he'll be mistaken for someone else in the spotted thread. "Spotted: MarkTD, gutter-to-gutter, canterbury rd near eastlink. Knt can drive."

He'll probably chuck pics on FB rather than here.

Bluepower tuned it the first time. some bloke that tunes commodores tuned it this time but all the mods were done at Bluepower, same with the auto (Northen Automatics or something, work out of Bluepower) The bloke that sold it reckons it's got a similar auto in it that the black XR8 ute that ran 10.05 has.

Anyways, this car is quick...makes me want one lol, no more stuffing around with eseries anymore I reckon.

Cheers for comments guys, but yeah, its fkn hell fun!!! Gotta love hitting boost and stepping out sideways =D First on the to do list is get it roadworthied, and straight after slam it, then just keep it looking mint, with the possibility of a few smaller upgrades, but otherwise, just drive it!! Ill get some pics up of it tomorrow, when it gets all cleaned inside out, bit dusty atm. Doesnt look all too special, sits way too high on decorsa's =[

Back in December it had its RACV check done and it come back with a engine caution regarding a compression issue, several oil leaks and white smoke coming from the exhaust. The car has been at a workshop in Oakleigh since the start of the year getting its turbo and engine re-built, including the replacement of all the pistons and the rings.

On Thursday it was again re-checked but it had slight lifter noise, and the RACV again gave it a fail. Once the lifter noise is corrected and checked off i can go and pick it up from the dealership in Preston. We will see what they say this week...

compression issue, several oil leaks and white smoke coming from the exhaust ... lifter noise

Why didn't you pull out of the deal before laying down a deposit? Unless you're getting it for cheap-cheap & planned on tuffening up the bottom end anyway with e-gas rods & whatnot
