Exhausts system on wagons- help?

Im sick of my exhaust system. Well, it goes alright, but the sound it makes isnt anything special. Im a tad pissed off too, because it cost me just over $1k to get it where it is and i cannot feel the slightest power improvment- not to mention the less than impressive sound it makes.

As it stands-

Pacemaker 4499's
Hi-flow cat
Redback 2.5" exhaust
2x Sports mufflers
Shiny exhaust tip

My previous wagon, a vk commodore, had the same kinda thing but only 1 muffler. And being a wagon, theres alot more interior space and the entire system just droned. a constant 'duurrrrrrrrrrr' kinda sound. It sounded fkn awsome at idle, but it was impossible to talk to anyone if the revs were over 2 grand. I really really really really really do not want that drone again.

What can i add/remove from my surrent set up to get a bit more attitude from it, without compromising practicallity? Remove a muffler and replace with a hot dog?

BTW, im a welder by trade and i have access to a hoist, so it'll all be done by me :D

Take the smaller muffler of the 2 out and see how it sounds.

Yeh I'd swap the rear box for a hot dog.

I have the exact same setup in my AU wagon, and I agree with you - it sounds like arse!

As has been suggested, I'd remove the smaller muffler/res and see how it sounds. IMO Pacey's don't give the best sound either compared to other extractors I've had.

my old wagon had a 2.5" redback cat back system with a hotdog at the rear and sounded great....no drone
if i had another 6cyl wagon i'd do the same again
