I stumbled on this earlier today (haven't seen it posed on boosted yet)
I thought about posing in For Sale section but since I'm not the one selling it i thought that may not be appropriate, but mods feel free to move if required.
http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/pri ... &silo=1011I thought it was good for a look.
Enjoy

Nice car, but I doubt it would sell for $87,000... Imagen the kind of EL you could build for that much money!
Generally EL GT's seem to be around $40,000, I doubt people would pay double just for P001... hell, you could buy a GT for 40k and then buy an EL XR and build a monster with the remaining money...
Futhermore, who with that kind of money to blow even thinks of E-series?
EDIT -

Half the price, better condition, lower k's & more desirable colour...

I reckon David Bowden owns it, if thats the case then he doesn't give a shit about making money. I could be wrong though...there is another collector on the Sunny Coast, but I can't think of his name...?
Then again if Bowden owned it he would probably keep it, but he is known to keep vehicles in the condition they came from the factory or the race track.

I am pretty sure I saw someone start a thread somewhere on AFF about this exact car, and what its worth to sell. Somehow I don't think it was Bowden though!

IIRC "P" cars were never used by Ford for testing. These were the ones given out to the press for thrashing and used for photo-shoots in the beginning.
The original test cars were codenamed HGT1-HGT4, and came in various guises from a bodykitted EL Fairmont to a cosmetically standard EF with full EL GT driveline.
It's all in the Project 064 EL GT magazine. I own a few copies.

The 'P' cars were pre production, totalling 11. The rest were labled GT1-GT239.
The p cars were largly used buy the press for evaluation.
P1 was left the ford line on the 3rd of feb and finished on the 18th by Tickford.
One of the Test cars was a Silver Fairmont...
Sunny, can you chuck some scans of the magazine up?

The car belongs to Chris Bowden (David Bowden's son)and was apparently GIVEN to him by his father. I have heard he was given an EB GT too.
...Must be a hard life.

Its nice, too bad about the front grille though. Now I know where they got the idea for the AU1 forte

As with the above posts this is even more over priced. In case ad is removed he is asking $115,000. For those kind of dollars Id be thinking more European.
Similar Money will get you 1994 348 Ferrari with only 25,000 on the clock.

He should be shot then. Must have been someone else who did au2 / b series then. With the revamped front end it has similar lines to ba. Too bad they didnt change the head lights earlier and square them off like a non xr b series.

pretty sure the record for a phase 3 was 750-800k, and theres no way in hell a el gt will ever fetch that sort of coin.
you can get a good xa or xb for much less than that #87, even good xy gt's can be had for less. theres a very nice rhino xy gt on aff now for 60k.
prices have come back a lot in the last 18-24 months.

yeh but still u hold any one of these cars for 20 years in a shed and dont drive the thing and you would be getting more than what you ever expected for it

i honestly cant see the el gt going up much more than current prices, and thats a lot less than that el gt.
the eb gt and el gt will always be collectable, but that doesn't necessarily mean high prices.
if you had 100k floating round to play with, and wanted a return in 20 years there would be better options.
me, id wanna drive the sucker, and that will ruin its value.

Pretty unlikely mate. What has the the el gt ever done? nothing. Nobody cares and people would probably just think youve put a body kit on unless they know there fords.
The reason the phase 3 is worth so much is because of its racing pedigree.
Being rare or old does not always equal being valuable, its gotta have some sort of history.
slammdeb wrote: and as for ferrari well there worth fuk all really and never will be worth more than what u pay now well the enzo maybe
Hmm you need to do some research mate. Ever heard of the Ferrari daytona? The list of ferrari's that have gone up in value is probably 10 times longer than fords.
Also please find me a proper ferrari that is worth less than an equal age ford? Apparantly they are worth 'fuk all' and I wanna know where this is???

I think I'd put $115k on it if it was mine.
Too many armchair critics here. They say that's a rip-off, but they'll want to sell their EB S Pack 5 speed with pacies for $6500 with no RWC tomorrow.
