Postby MR_RED_LABEL » June 14th, 2009, 9:58 am

Hey fellas,

just joined this site, pretty cool I must say !!

My ride is a 97 EL XR6 (red in colour)

So far, mods are few:

- Lowered Dobinson Ultra Low's on the back
- Kings Super Lows on the front

- Standard stereo with the addition of a Kicker 10inch Sub and a monoblock amp

- Pod Filter

- 19inch FPV GT's

Not sure how to post pics, still new to this sort of stuff !! Sorry guys

LOL thanks dude, I've had the car for 2 years. When I first put the wheels on (around 30 mins after purchase lol) There weren't many going around with 19's.

I'm from Melbourne (Western Suburbs).

I've had them for a while and looking to get some new wheels in time but not sure what I want.....

As for your car, I love em in Regency Red. My mate almost bought one in regency also, 5spd with a sunroof and it was an early 98 model too, last of the EL's. We went to the car yard and some tool was taking it for a spin, came back and bought the car....shattered !!

cant go wrong with a red EL XR

tickford kit, and colour coded bumper moulds would set it off nicely

LOL for me, I've always liked the look of the EL without the kit better than with the kit. Only because it rounds off the car giving in a sleeker look. The car was sitting lower to begin with (the front of the wheel was tucked into the guard bringing it level with the wheel, and the back guard sitting just over the wheel) but just wasn't practical driving into 25km every day to work and back.

LOL @ ed4ltr - hahaha agreed !!

Gotta say though, red in these cars is the shiz....If I didn't get red, would probably have been gun metal grey....love em !!

Don't get me wrong, both look hot....but If I did add the kit, definately would be without the boot spoiler....they both look f***n HOT !!!

FordFairmont what model fairmont do you drive?

When I was looking for a car to replace my last it was either an EL Ghia or an XR6...I ended up with the XR6....Originally I wanted an NL Fairlane 5.0 but the 6 was faster and more fun ;)

i drive an EF Fairmont, added some Ghia stuff like leather, LSD etc.

yeah fairlane would be nice, but too much of a tank !!!

i will be happy to swap front ends over if you ever regret not buying a Mont :D

LOL thats the main reason why i bought the XR....that front end in your rear view mirror looks like it wants to swallow you !!

My mate just sold a gorgeous EL Ghia. They look hot, all you gotta do is whack on a fairlane grille, lower it nicely and voila !!!

Fairlane's are tanks but f**k they are classy !! I'm just going to get the box rebuilt because after 220k its starting to become rather tired so I'll rebuild it and later on look at either engine rebuild, or even swap it with an AUII or AUIII XR6 engine

Have to keep it conservative, it's a daily driver doing 50km a day all week plus weekend driving

Hey ED XR6 - Not into the kits mate - I prefere standard, no body kit....just DUMPED with big wheels....to me body kits look to ricer-ish....smoothe, clean lines, VERY LOW with some nice wheels looks better.

Going to clean it up with a few things here and there but going to wait a bit and get a BF MK II XR6T with all the boxes ticked (leather, sunroof, sat nav)

Hey mate,

not really any mods on the cards to be honest. It's a daily driver so I wanted to keep it fairly stock apart from aesthetics.

It's got 220k on the clock and runs perfect. Because I drive 25km a day + weekends I don't want to start modding the engine just yet.

I'm actually contemplating selling it to get a fairlane.

If I can get a cheap 5spd for it I'll definately keep it :-)

I love em in regency also. There was one I seen the other day with the kit in regency with a sunroof, and sitting quite low. Looked stunning.

LOL Dumpsta, how did you know I got 20's? Did you read my other post askin for hub adaptors? LOL

Some tool clipped my mirror ages ago while the car was parked at the station while I was at work. I bought a new mirror, and the rear bumper has some chips so I'm respraying them both, putting the 20's in and changing the shockers. I was going to do it this weekend but I've got family shindigs to go to so we'll see how we go.

All I can say is I'm hanging to see the 20's on the car :P

I'll post up pics soon....I get the wheels this Friday night so Saturday morning I'll wash the car, take some pics and post up as is without the few little extra details :-)

Acuzed, nothing wrong with fairmonts. Initially I was looking for a fairmont/fairlane but ended up with the XR6...as for my current wheels they'll probably be for sale soon once I get the 20's this weekend - Would look hot on your regency fairmont ;)

Heheh yeah well i can tell ya one thing....they are different....the wheels I mean. I mean I love the look of the GTP's - best wheel Ford's made. But they are too common and time for something different.

If I had the cash I'd go for a set of Simmons FR19's - best wheel FULL STOP !!

No doubt about the Simmons being one of the best wheels.. though if I was entering that price range, I would be looking at others too of course.. and exactly, Ive got GTPs as well and yep they look sweet and they arent common up here, never seen another set except on B-series, but they simply arent big enough for me and I want the chrome/dish factor... Atm(after considering lots of different sets of 20's) Id probably buy a set of 20" Verde Kaos in Chrome.
