Put out the following numbers on the Dynagraph:
134KW @ 4800rpm with 328NM @ 2500rpm, and that with a faulty Lambda Sensor (CO Sensor on the exhaust, just after manifold)
On that note, does anyone have a part number for the sensor, since the agents are crazy with their price, since it has to be imported from..., you guessed it, AUS.
It seems the difficult parts to come by are sensors (electrical items), and window glass!! The rest they can source from the standard spares bucket.
Must admit, I am very impressed with the build quality, you guys seriously know how to put something together!!

She's a manual.
Anyway, the lambda sensor saga has come to an end, managed to source one from Bosch, at a third of the price compared to the agents!!! So, I guess I'm fitting a sensor tonight, and then my baby will be good as new!
Most agents are bare-faced liars, who rely on the fact that the consumer is generally too stupid, or too scared to question them. Well, Mr Porter Ford, BITE ME!
If anyone is interested, the part number is: EA9G444B, and was picked up on the Bosch system on the same part number. The Bosch part number is:
0 258 986 504-36Y, and is called a LS 04 Universal Lambda Sensor, and comes with all the relavent goodies to connect to the existing Ford plug.
Agent Price: R2215.00 (in rands, don't know the exchange rate), 20% deposit required, 2 week waiting period
Bosch Price: R880.82, no deposit, had 2 on shelf
Don't you just love German efficiency!
Still love my falcon, even though she's an expensive mistress!!

Looks great mate! The black steering wheel is a nice touch.

Can you take a close-up pic of the plaque on the rocker cover? I wonder if that's an SA-specific thing?

So not all EL XR's have the black wheel? What about the black cluster and the snorkel? Most EL's I've seen have a grey cluster, a bit like the colours of the dials. The snorkel looks like an EL GT item.

Very neat car, looks like Heritage Green too 8-)

that all looks pretty standard for an el xr.
So much RAM the motherboard twisted off the POST.

Greetings, All
Thanks for replies.
Sensor went in last night, made a world of difference, especially at idle to 2000rpm, hoping to stick her back on a dyna during next week. It is blatantly apparent that my Falcon was put together by someone who knew what they were doing, since, when comparing it to even BM's and Audi's that are built locally, MINE IS BETTER!!!
Well done AUS!!

XR8?
Would have taken one, if I could find one. Even though the Straight-6 is great, I still think there is no substitute for a good ol' 8 pot V. There is just something about that motor config that I like, not to mention how they sound. We used to have a mid-70s Ford Fairlane 500, with the 3-speed column shift, front bench-seat, and vinyl roof, that was used to tow the caravan. Many of my most pleasant boyhood memories are triggered by the muted woofle of a V8

Ahh well, you should be able to keep up with the XR8s in your XR6. Be sure to check out many of our build threads for performance mods. You might want to buy an exhaust & have it shipped over, or a cam, etc.

Mmm that Fairlane 500 sounds orright, got any old pics of it?

Greetings, Commando
As requested, see below for a pic of the Fairlane (unfortunately not the one my dad had, but one that was on show at the Durban Car Show this year. My dad's was a beige/tan, with a dark grey vinyl roof, and off-white/cream leather upholstery)
Image
It also had aftermarket rims, can't quite remember what they looked like, this was 25 odd years ago!! (Yes, some of the years were a bit odd.)

Accent, what accent? :D
No, seriously, my accent would probably be very broad on an AUS ear, since it will be tainted by the dialects from 3 seperate provinces, with a smattering of local Afrikaans!!

LOL I work with a South African most days. I could say what people call him over here but I dont want to offend anyone. But he swares sometimes in Afrikance (excuse the spelling). And I pick on him for calling the Navara a Van and the way he pronouces cutters and pliers

Offend away!! We've been on the receiving end of so much bull over the years, that we have developed thick skins. Ya, the SA accent can take a bit of getting used to, and some of the slang, eg:
ute = bakkie (since it has a large "holder" = "bak" at the back)
MPV = van, kombi (thanks to the original VW Kombi)
girlfriend = stukkie, cherry (no details supplied, normally has sexual connations regarding female parts)
a drink = dop (the screw-lid on a Brandy bottle is called a "dop", and is used as a tot-measure)
wheels = wiels (ie: vehicle)
Play rugby = Bloed skenk (donate blood)
only to mention a few,
sorry, have drifted off the topic a bit.

But yeah.
