n00bie. BA XR6 TURBO

Postby point.design » October 20th, 2010, 1:11 pm

gday,
just joined boosted falcon a couple of weeks ago and only just figured out how to use the forum section last night.
im 21 live in victoria and just picked up a 2004 BA XR6 TURBO sedan. its auto :( 100,000 k's on the clock. blueprint colour and overall a pretty tidy rig. its completely stock as we speak but i would like to get the ball rolling.

so far plans are;
slamming the shit out of it within the next week or so. thinking ultra low king springs with gt monroe sports shocks. this is a fairly cheap option which is why i like it, but am open to suggestion as im pretty sure alot of people would be against the old king springs.

next on the cards would be a full exhaust. i dont know too much about exhausts but i want it to sound tuff and increase perfomance if possible. completely open to suggestions.

XR8 bonnet

i would like to put a 6 speed manual in it, but its gonna be fuckn pricey!

apart from that i'll be pretty happy i reckon.

down the track i will probably do quite a few engine mods, but i need the cash first.

also if anyone can direct me to a section of the forums ( i dont know if there is one here?) where i can have like a showcase of my car with build process and people can comment it and stuff, leave suggestions. kind of liek my own profile. im unsure how to set it up, all help would be appreciate. cheers

Welcome to the forum.
Sounds like a nice ride, the XR6T respond really well to mods.

hey mate. welcome.

for the price of full springs and shocks and a gt bonnet, you can get:

deka 60lb injectors, high flow cat, and remove the middle muffler, flash tuner and a tune (all up in one hit about) its about 3k. should see 240-250rwkw.

if you want springs, you cant go to low else you will start smashing tailshaft and CVs. SLs on front and SSLs on rear are decent with 19's. I would prob say you want SSL fronts and SSLs + 1" compressed on the back so the rim tucks under guard. Will be to low obviosuly but look good.

a fibreglass xr8 bonnet will look good but i havnt come past anyone that has had one fight straight (all the lines etc). They go for about 600$ on ebay unpainted. Carbon fibre ones go for about 1000+. Look awesome though.

gl with it :)

yeah a decent clutch and bits and pieces.. $4500 or so. i would keep the auto.. been there done that lol. a decent auto from a well known shop should be 3-3500 and it'll be faster than a manual, just depends how much you like smashin gears compaired to raping other cars at the lights!

My setup cost $5200 but this guy wouldn't need a $1000 aftermarket clutch pedal. Icer is right.
