GLENNEAUX - THE BEAST

Yes i'll resize the pics when i get a chance and i'll finish the post..

Hey im Glenneaux. I own the beast, and also own a car. its a black eb2 fairmont. (bad joke in there.. anyway).

Got it march 2005 with 134,000km on it, pretty straight and clean. Had the little stone dings down the sills but apart from that pretty nice. Not long later the headgasket was blown.

Heres a pic of the car the day i got it home:
Image

So yeah headgasket blew, didnt know anyone who could do it and didnt have the cash so paid $700 to get a mechanic to do it.

So lets keep plugging along with it.. about a year passed when all i did was stick in the clear indicators at the front and fool around with a stereo. I think i had the factory tape deck for <2weeks hehe. In this time i also got a megasquirt II kit, assembled it, mucked around with it for a bit and its STILL not in the bloody car ........!!

So yeah, fast forward a bit. mid way through 06 stuck a catback in it with some help (more like i passed him tools) from dcstraight (in his driveway), zervos loaned us an angle grinder which ended up being a drill, then a bunch of other people turned up cause we were supposed to be going to the movies. Dave (guts) turned up with the angle grinder and we finally got the old exhaust off. I think we ended up going to mccafe instead of the movies.. ??

Image

Now J-dub got his concorde wreck and i eventually scammed myself into buying the ticky motor off him. So one lazy sunday we ripped the motor and trans out with the help of rmyers engine crane (it gets around.. :P).

Motor out:
Image

i then proceeded to pick up jdub from hallam and we roadtripped it to my place in coongulla (on lake glenmaggie) where a pit awaited where we would do the engine transplant.

Then it was simply a case of old motor out:
Image

and new motor in...
Image

And no it wasnt that quick and straight forward..

and the end result of concorde motor install:
Image

Which then resulted in some hooning around with no bonnet :D

MORE TO COME

I <3 glenn

Hooning around with no bonnet FTW! Except when the auxillary shaft siezes and you are stuck 3 km from home and have to walk home at midnight to collect the trusty old EA to tow home the crapy old EB home. Nothing sus,

This car has a good 5 speed.

Ahh I think I've posted about Coongulla before. Village of the Damned, where 5yo kids roam the streets with stray dogs and there's not a single adult to be seen. There were a bunch of them in a playground, but instead of playing on the equipment, they were MAKING A FIRE. It was scary.

That'd be the one mate. it used to be a quiet holiday maker town but now its full of scumbags and yes stray dogs. We used to always get hassled about our dogs (dobermans) even tho they were behind a fence where as every other **** dog can roam the streets. Fcken annoying.

and yer, word around the district is that its degrading into a dump like heyfield, heaps of scum living up there now. more residents = less hooning for me :(

I reckon you should set them free and cull some of the kids/strays from the streets. I'm sure your dobermans alone will reduce incidents of arson by 70% next bushfire season

E-Series with no Bonnet FTW!!! Damn that looks good.

Are you running an EL computer, as i noticed you have an EL IAC (idle air control) motor?

Indeed I am. I'm running the Tickford/Ghia ECU that goes with the ticky motor. We modded the EB engine loom so everything would reach using the EL plugs if nessecary. Then all we did was run the extra wires for the fan relays, bbm solenoid thingy and then later on i ran the wires for the knock sensor.

The thing went like a fucking rocket the day we did it.. then it ended up being slow and doughy like the old motor. I'm not really sure what it was. I think it was running it with out the knock sensor connected which even though i wired it up i dont think its connected properly/working because it runs rich as all hell.

They're called speed ripples . Sort of SImilar to the Brock polarizer...

Also this car has undergone a massive weight reduction scheme with selected sections of the bonnet being replaced with .5mm aircraft grade titanium sheet.

So anyway heres a bit of back story

Earlier this year i picked up engine/electrics/wiring from a ba wreck. we're talking 5-6months ago..

after playing with all the wiring and working out i could make it run with the factory security satisfied, I stuck it all in the EB.

2 weekends of work removing the old el xr motor and putting in the BA motor and it was starting and running.

Due to the fact i was running an auto computer in a manual car it was basically undrivable.

Enter flash tuning.

No more security, manual tune.

Car hammers, except for my wiring loom missing the BBM wiring which made it not 100%...

Car has been sitting around at my house for 3months while i "fixed it" - and by that i mean it sat around and didnt get touched.

Anyway, now it runs again, and it could've been running 3months ago if i wasnt so lazy.

kthxbai :P

Hahah... good on ya for letting the cat out of the bag glenn.

And the best part.. no workshop in site.

proves to everyone that the BA Conversion is doable without the $6k price tag attached.
and its not that hard!

now we just need some pics.
especially of the titanium patch

It does also help if you know someone who can 'dominate the ecu' (as Glenn would say) ;)

Rofl... yeh true :P
but in saying that... still brings it all in way under budget.

especially if you can take it to someone who knows exactly what needs to be changed.
Danny's good like that :P

Yeah, seeing as BA motor retrofitting isnt a big deal any more if you're loaded i thought i may as well put some details up.. that and people at the glenmaggie camp would probably know i had a BA motor seeing as i rocked up with it in a trailer :P

I've spent <$1500 on it all up, no capa flash boxes or snipers or anything like that, it hasnt been to a workshop at all.

The only drawback and reason i haven't put any pictures up is because when i put it in it was done very quickly mainly to prove it before i do it in a car thats not fucked. (body wise).

while the wiring is so-so it looks like a dogs breakfast so i dont know if a photo will go up - maybe i can just blank it all out :P

But all in all, i spent f-all on it and i've wasted a bit of money mutilating looms, but in all honesty it's a nice conversion, the wiring involved is straightforward depending on how you handle it and bang for buck.. even with an N/A motor is just awesome.

at the end of the day, it doens't matter how it looks.
the knowledge is king :P
