MIA....Not Any More

Postby Quasi » June 18th, 2009, 5:01 pm

Hey guys, I was a registered member of the E Series Owners Club a few years ago, and have decided to pop my head up again.

I still have the same 1992 EBII Tickford Fairmont Ghia 5.0L, which I've had since 2003, and don't look like parting with it anytime soon. When I was involved before I was living in Canberra, but in 2007 I migrated to the Gold Coast, in preparation for wealthy retirement [like that'll happen], and am looking at getting back into things again.

For those that don't know, she's got Pacemaker comp headers feeding into a full length 3" single system through hi-flow cats and single muffler, EDXR nose & dash, colour coded EF door handles, King super lows all 'round, 65mm TB, AUII Tickford snorkel, 17" ANZ Rio rims, and other lovingly applied bits and pieces, all wrapped in Ford 'Everglade'.....going by the nickname 'GATOR'.

The factory premium sound made way for a Kenwood HU, Precision Response 12" DVC sub, and a hi power 5 channel amp, and stinger 1.2 farad cap. The front splits are still the factory Alpine units from 17 years ago, but they still kick [though will be replaced when the dollars are available]. The factory rear 2-ways were replaced with clarion units, though they are disconnected at the moment, as they can't keep up with the rest of the system.

Oh well, enough from me, for the moment.

I saw that one. I thought that would be great, but the fuel cost is a bit beyond me at the moment, and the wife would have only just gotten home from work in time to get to Helensvale (works 5:30AM to 9:30AM).

Maybe the next one I guess :this:

What better way to dig up an old membership than to dig up an old post

Yeah, I've done it again, gone MIA for a few years. Back with a different car this time, and back in Canberra minus the wife :yahoo:

After 10 years of ownership the EB has moved onto a guy I work with, and I've picked up a 2005 BA MkII XR6T in 'Blaze'. I'm loving the fuel economy....and what happens when I bury the right foot

Certainly won't have to suggest it twice ;)

It was a Telstra fleet car, purchased from Oak Ford, in Melbourne. Service history states that on seperate occasions both fog lamps were replaced, and some problem with the sunroof was rectified.

At some point it ended up with a guy in Gunnedah, NSW, according to the 2011/12 NSW rego papers in the owners manual.

Took these pics with my phone, so a couple not as good as I would have liked.

Would you believe this engine bay has now done 245,000 Kms?

Planned mods include the following:

iPod cable and iPod Nano
19" wheels & tyres (as much as I detest flavour of the month items probably Dark Argents)
Bigger brakes (DBS 4000 or PBR M series)
Exhaust upgrade (either cat back or full)
CAI upgrade
Intercooler upgrade
Turbo reco or upgrade
Specialist tune
Respray in factory 'Blaze'
Upgrade from premium amp
Upgrade from premium cabin speakers
Upgrade from premium sub-woofer
Maybe a BF F6 Typhoon front bar
Maybe a BA/BF XR8 bonnet

The plan is to enhance what is there already, cosmetically, whilst for performance I have a target of 300rwkw.

I want the vehicle to remain comfortably streetable.

Those engine bays hold up well after they fixed up the peeling paint on the crossover from the earlier models. If you just degreased and straightened up that +ve battery terminal boot the bay would look as it did when it rolled off the line back in it's day.

There's some nuggets out there with high KM, but looks like you got a good one. Hope you didn't pay much for it though, because they aren't worth anything with beyond 180 on the clock!

Paid $8999 from a dealer in Sydney.....as is.

Aluminium water reservoir and power steering bottle are on the list. The battery will most likely end up in the boot, as I plan to run a turbo side CAI pipe. At some point I want to colour match the rocker cover to the body.

Cheers guys.

9k is a fair price IMO, especially from a dealer. Although the as is bit would have rung a few alarm bells.

Looks fair mint though, awesome colour.

I put the "as is" to indicate that this is how I got the car, and have done nothing except wash it since picking it up :D

I nearly bought this off eBay,
I reckon with the decals removed it would look pretty good

Although when I did the deal it was something like 24 hours from funds transfer I was asked to pay a security deposit as the dealer had several people interested in it. I'm not a fan of GT stripes on non GTs, but depending upon which wheels I go with the stripes either stay or go....i'll decide later.

If I go with the 'Dark argents' the stripes and wheels will compliment each other, and play off against the body colour in a 'muscle car' kind of way (I've already corrected a couple of people that in my mind this is NOT a muscle car, it is a factory performance vehicle, but I kind of like the muscle car look). If I go with lighter wheels (chrome or polished) then removing the stripes will completely change the appearance of the car from what it is now.

I've seen an Acid Rush BA slammed on 20" argents and de-badged with no stripes. I'd do that. Genuine Dark Argents have a gold fleck in the paint, would look good against the Blaze paintwork.
