EDXR61994 goes fairmont.

Well after being so unlucky and crashing two ED XR6s in 13 months....I decided to go with a Fairmont. I will probably down the track put an XR6 motor and ECU in it....and probably the Lip spoiler and front end. Defiantly a MOMO wheel when I can. Other than that everything else I do will probably be cosmetic. Car is Maroon in colour. The silver one that was displayed here fell through.

I had thought about it......but...probably not....I am the only man I know who seemed to find ED XR6 seats comfy...everyone else who ever sat in my car reckoned they were hard on your ass when getting into them. It depends tho...down the track when she starts to get XR6 running gear and I put her through a corner if I find I am not getting sufficient support....I may consider it.....but hard to say....valour is a lovely interior and feels fantastic...

Keep the car as a fairmont, XR seats will not match the rest of the interior and will look crap.

Why would you think the fuel system needs a clean? E10 cleans better than normal fuel, just change the fuel filter along with the oil and oil filter when you service it.

Try not to stack this one hey.....

I was under the impression that E 10 left residue in the motor. I also have never known an E - series motor that has run on that shit and been a happy motor.

As for crashing....well I'll do what I can to not crash mate but. Its not like I go out of my way to crash 2 perfectly good XR6s either.....both times I've been fucking unlucky. I mean due to not having work I wasn't able to throw money at pads and rotors which my car needed. Even if I did I am not sure I would have been able to pull up in time either way. Where I crashed was going down hill. Unfortunately manuals when slammed into first gear stop very quickly when combined with break peddle especially 06 models. 94 auto with 94 abs......well I didn't have a chance....only thing I can try to do is drive around expecting every car to do that. In which case id properly end up rear ended myself. Already trying to leave more stopping distance.

As I've been told by a few mechanics, for roadworthy, "if its got it, it has to work."
About the only thing that doesn't have to work is the radio. Bonnet cable has to be in order, otherwise you have no chance of putting fires out (worst case senario), and it shows lack of maintance. Also, fan belt fails, no brake booster, no brakes.
So sounds like the mechanics are doing thier job, better the seller fix it than you, espcially if you put the term "sold subject to RWC" on the reciept, they now are responsible for all costs getting it roadworthy.

Lul...wut?

Brake booster is vacuum assisted, vacuum comes from the intake manifold, which has nothing to do with the fan belt...

Fan belts are not a roadworthy item but you are better off paying $50 for a new one than $100 for the tow you will require to a workshop plus the original $50 for another one when it snaps (which it will).

There is nothing in the RWC book specifically requiring that the bonnet must be able to be opened via the factory provided lever, I believe they assume that the bonnet opens given you need to be able to see the build plate/VIN/engine number etc.

Front bushes may/may not be a roadworthy item depending on how bad they are, it's surprising the amount of steering/suspension play QLD transport deems acceptable for a RWC pass  Again, you're better off getting them done now anyway.

LOL, got my wires crossed between diesel (which get their vaccum from the pump on the back of the alternator) and petrol.
Good point thou, cheaper to have belt replaced than getting a tow.

OK purchased EB Fairmont. Motor is a 3.9 multipoint with reco'd head. Well once I find work there will be a 4.0L going in that is for certain. But lets hope the 3.9 lives for long enough.
