Heya..

Introduce yourself and your ride.

Heya..

Postby Fayne » November 19th, 2007, 5:21 pm

G'day,

My name's Andrew, I'm 18 and I live in Lilydale, Melbourne.

I've been paying attention to fordmods.com and found this place last night and yeah.. Haven't made a post before anywhere so thought I might say hi.

And what better way to start than with some pics of my last car *sniffle* then some of the new one :P

My first car was an ED fairmont, marone in colour. Took me a while to find a car, being a student and having an old man that's a tight arse I've got a 'squeeze every penny' sort of way of going about things :P Bought it for $200 about 12 months ago and it was in a pretty bad state engine-wise, good exterior, immaculate interior. I put a fair bit of work into it, such as new head gasket, water pump, alternator, and just all sorts of shit here, there and everywhere. Found a set of Turboblades aswell at Pick-a-part, good condition, $15 a mag or something and shoved them on..

Anywho, I was in the process of working 3 jobs to keep saving up money and got a stage where I could sell the fairmont for 2Gs or so, put it with my savings and was wanting to pick up an EL XR8, manual of course.. Was 3 days away from selling the car when the worst possible thing happened :P driving home from work, hit a blade off a Lawn mower and it popped the front right hand tyre. Pretty much immediately lost control of the car, was trying to fight it all over the road, I was able to avoid other cars but got turned sideways pretty quickly. Left the highway at like 85/90KM/h and yeah.. I hit down a one way sign, knocked a gum tree that was 40cm at the base straight out of the ground, hit down a nice big expencive fence, went through another smaller stone fence and through another part of that expencive fence, came to a rest up against another tree.

Since it was 3 days till selling the car I let the insurance run out and had none.. I was taken to hospital, miraculously still alive with only a bit of a bump to the head and yeah.. Every morning I wake up with a sore Neck and Back still but not too much I can do about that at the moment.

Anyways.. Here's the aftermath of the crash:

The destruction zone:

^ That's obviously parts of the tree I knocked out of the ground :P

So yeah.. Since the cops got involved it meant everything had to be done properly.. meaning, sign had to be payed for, tree had to be cut up and removed professionaly, fences had to be replaced.. So all my savings got put towards that leaving me in a bit of debt over the top of it :P

This thursday actually is my final pay day meaning I'm debt free.. Ahh it'll be a nice feeling.

Since my car was quite obviously totaled I started looked around for more cars and found en EBII sitting in the front of a guys place in Nunawading. Went by there and made him an offer of $750, he asked if I could pay anymore, I said $780 and that's getting my lunch money for the next week aswell. He seemed pretty reluctant about it but accepted and just said he didn't want it anymore.

It's got 130,000 KMs on the clock, straight, came with a month of reg and a full tank of petty :P It has suffered from a fair bit of sun damage, apprently they used it as a run around car when one of theirs broke down for the passed 7 years or something.. Pretty happy with my buy. Since then I haven't had too much of a chance to do too much with it, with having to put my income towards debts first.

What I have managed to do:
Set of ELXR6 mags with tyres and a roadworthy for $300
Clear indicators for $30
XR Seats, front and back for $40

Here's some pics(Just went outside before to take em):
http://heik.files.endlessgaming.com/Car%20Pics/New%20car/
(I've gtg at the moment so don't have time to make them smaller and make proper links to post now.. Will do it when I get home)

So yeah.. Plans for the EB are to lower it within the next couple of weeks(B'day in a week or so and I think my old man wants to stuff around with my car a bit and lower it :P), tint it, remove those mud flaps which was going to do today.. just cbf'ed; too hot. And I'll do whatever I can think of as I go :P Extractors and Exhaust will have to come after not too long.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed reading about my crash and new car :P

Looking forward to hanging around here for a while to come.. Probably won't post much but will most likely read everything..

Thanks, Catch

Shit mate, that accident could have had a way worse impact on you if these cars weren't built tough. That EB looks nice, I think i've seen it around.

Maroondah Highway. Lilydale bound just before North Croydon shops area.. If you're traveling down the road just look to the left as you come around a sweeping left hand turn and yeah.. Went over an embankment, through a small gap in between a barrier and light pole, over an embankment and then into the trees/fences :P

The fence isn't fixed yet so it's pretty easy to see.

EdFairmontGhia wrote:did much happen to you in the crash???

I was unconcious for about a second or so I think as I hit the last tree which hit the driver door, banged my head pretty badly and can't remember a fair bit of it. Had a couple of bumps, from it. My leg was bruised kinda bad, lucky it wasn't broken; in one of the photos you can see that that door was caved in totally covering over the top of the accelerator pedal.. There wasn't exactly a lot of room left in the foot well and it's lucky my legs weren't crushed. I was covered totally in glass which is sort of to be expected, had some small cuts from it on my arm but yeah, nothing major at all.

I'm happy I didn't end up with a criminal record aswell, only got a point left so woulda lost my licence :P Some guy was at the scene going off about how I was driving like a dickhead, with another guy saying I wasn't being a dickhead.. Cops tried their intimidating me into telling them the truth that I was speeding and all that, but I just denied it all and they did all the tests.. Coming up with no drugs in my system and yeah. I think they sorta figured that I wasn't a cockhead driver and let all the charges go. Good cops.

So much more could of gone wrong, but it didn't.

Like needfordspeed said, it's a good thing these cars a big solid hunk of metal or else when I hit that first tree I wouldn't of gone through it and would be dead.

Oh **** you moose Hahahaha.. Man, every bastard of a mate I've got said that. drove me insane..

Putting in a Head unit and sub soon.. WOOoo

And ahh yeah.. I'm driving my car around constantly, in between f/t tafe in Box Hill and 4 jobs. Wouldn't be surprised if you see me around if you live in the area :P

My Old man is a big fan of the Pizza Joint, I think he just likes having a beer at Lous Lounge while he waits for the Pizza, I can't say they make the best pizza in Melbourne :o . I only moved here about 7 weeks ago, so haven't really ventured much around town, IGA liquor is good.

Holy god-damned sh*t! You really pulled out all stops on uncle-cluster-munting that ED! If I ever stack either of my E-Series bad enough to write it off, I want it to look as epic as that. Or like Joe's old EB :P

Fark. Damn people leaving their shit all over the shop. Glad you're alive - I don't think you'll get a much closer call than that. Testimony to driving a Falcon / large car. New EB looks like a lucky find.
