Boosted Falcon

Hey all,

New to the site, but not car modding(so you don't have to spoon feed me!) Have had a soft spot for fords ever since we had an almost brand new EA s-pack back in 89(complete with snowflakes and a 2.5" system-I think I was 9 years old when we got it) They were awesome when they were new, and still are if you can find em in good nick!

I'm sick of driving my little econobox and need some rwd goodness back in my life! Got the missus 'onboard' so to speak and she's warming to the idea of 4l turbo fun!(makes it easier if the other half doesn't give you the shits about buying stuff-still would do it anyway mwahahahaha) She loves a bit of dose...Don't we all?

Anyway, haven't bought the car yet as I would like some help choosing the 'best' falcon for a custom turbo. Looked at a BA XR6 turbo sedan or ute(my work car is a BA LPG ute) but they're common, and all flogged, they also seem to hold their value a bit TOO well(20k for a reasonable 2004 ute but 13k for a sedan that's never been to work...?)

I'm thinking EL, as I like the shape, strong motor compared to AU and looks pretty good with a set of 18's and springs. I'm also thinking of a wagon(mattress in the back he he for camping) and it's a little less common to see done up. My missus likes an AU wagon with an xr front end, which would look ok I guess. Either of these should be pretty cheap to get looking reasonable for cruising, then get a snort manifold, T04 and J3 or flash depending on the car etc. Only looking to go 6psi on an external gate and stock internals and prob auto for lazy one armed cruising with spool and torque

Any others I should look for? EB-ED maybe?

Get a EA S-Pack, EA's are lightest of the lot so you'll go faster

IF you want something a bit nicer, maybe go for a EL Ghia or EL XR they'd be my pick.

1+ Turbo EF/EL. Seems everyone these days are getting awesome power out of B-series and easily at that. But they are so common it hurts my eyes, seems like every second car I see up here is a Ba/Bf. Sure, loads of bogan E's getting around, probably every 1st car haha but the point is... how often do you actually see a nice clean E? Might be different for the Melbourne boys but its pretty rare around here.

turbo eseries are also getting pretty common nowadays too... I'd just wait it out, find a decent non-flogged
bseries and go from there....

Barely ever seen a turbo e-series around here (south metro-Perth) usually just n/a shitboxes chucking weak chicken-wing skids in the rain.

I would actually think a turbo e-series wagon on 18's would be farkin sweet, easy to work on(cheap and plentiful parts!) and semi unique, while still blending in. I also don't mind pissing off the occasional vn bucket which is normal around here. Wouldn't mind one day handing a gen 3 driver a spanner so he can put the doors back on(which I just blew off hahahaha) I'm only 10 mins from the quit motorplex so I can take it there. I like the ED atm, because of the intake design not needing to go over the motor, or have a 180 bend on top, just a simple turbo, cooler, plenum loop like most rwd jap 6's and 4's for that matter!

I looked briefly around and can find some ED's in ok shape, but any earlier is going to be interesting to find in good cond...

I am led to believe a stock e-series wagon handles like a 'fat chick on a water bed', so what are they like on a set of kings/lovells/pedders etc?

Mine isnt too bad with Pedders shocks/springs in the front and reset leaf springs in the back. Put blocks in and that changes though..

Made that one up on the fly today so I'm gonna put that in my 'commonly used' section...

Going to keep ride height totally legal as I'd like to keep attention away from the car(from anyone in a blue uniform...cough) Just want clean and tidy outside, and a nice highmount huffer hidden under the bonnet(black cooler etc) So yeah, pedders stuff etc will be the go(no superlows)

With Pedders you have to pick the shop, around here one of them said they had no listings etc, the other shop said no worries and did it straight away(camber kit for odd car)

I'm going to agree with the fat chick on a water bed hahaha but then again i do have rooted shocks in the front of mine so i think some pedders would make a big difference.... anyway check out my build thread might give you some ideas for a wagon

Cool, so some reasonable shocks/springs and she'll be respectable

After more searching, the EL looks as though it may be the better option as it already has most of the 'desirable' stuff (BBM, thermos,better ecu for J3 tuning(original ecu is a prerequisite for me, makes engineering a turbo easier if factory ecu is still in place) They also look pretty good, and I like the interior over say an AU.
