Hi been a while sinse if posted about a car but i've just taken ownership of an ED XR6 in Black Pearl. Its a 1993 model in auto. I believe its got a custom made set of extractors and custom made exhaust. Its lowered by about and inch and a half and has a set of 16 inch wheels in rough shape. 230 000 Kms for 1500 bux. Figured it was a steal.

I plan to try and get it resprayed in June if I still continue to have work by then. I am in the process of installing a trip computer and cruise control the car. I have also installed a tow bar to it as I go fishing a lot and towing the boat is a priority. I also plan to remove the chrome strips and replace it with the red ones the car came with from factory.

yes someone put chrome on it. They did come out with red the grey trim was always grey on them. Only fairmont ghia's to my knowledge had colour coated trims. I actually like the grey myself I think it suits it. As for the chrome it doesn't look too bad but I prefere the red.

there is something about the gear box in this car tho. As some may know this is XR6 no 3 for me in this model as auto. The other two autos had what id describe as gear change lag. This box seems to have very minimal amounts of that if any at all. not sure what's been done or if anything has. Gotta say it boogys for what it is.

as for big future plans I am not ruling out boosting. But have to wait till other more pressing priorities are done and then I needs to go through teh builds and do lots of study :P

Recently fitted trip computer to her I find towing 4.6m Allycraft Shadow pro from Ipswich to Jacob's well with 3 people in the car I used an average of 12.9L per 100. Then went from Jacob's well to Goldcoast Via Pimpama and then home it got up to 13.4L per 100.

I feel pretty happy with that. I do need to get an automatic transmission cooler as they are only rated to tow 500KGs without one and I am towing about 1 tonne.

What are some simple mods to get more go out of an XR6 without increasing fuel consumption and without sacrificing reliability and (keeping it an auto).

So an update. Head is shot thanks to corrosion out the side of head. and timing chain has broken its guides and is only hanging in there by the chain itself. So what next? AU engine Conversion should hopefully be ready by Friday Afternoon if all goes well. for more information I have created a small build thread. Only starting out and is my first build thread as I am a newby to all this modifying :).
