Tom's AU Falcon

Introduce yourself and your ride.

Tom's AU Falcon

Postby Tommi » January 20th, 2011, 8:41 pm

Hi all, my name is Tom and I'm from Newport, VIC. just thought I'd introduce myself and my ride. i have a 2001 AU falcon Futura (75th anniversary edition). i bought it off this guy from Roxburgh Park for $5000 in November 2010. it had 185,000km on the clock and had been lowered on kings springs and has what i have been told to be XR6 rims (i would appreciate if anyone could identify them for me). also it has extractors but they had the stock exhaust from the cat back. i got the car because i had a little argument with a safety barrier in my ED gli which my dad had given me for my first car.

so far i have installed a sound system comprising of;
- Pioneer head deck
- Pioneer front splits
- Alpine Type S rear speaker
- Kicker 12" sub and amp

i also installed a 2.5" cat back exhaust with a chrome tip.

i would like to do more stuff but have ran out of ideas. i wouldn't mind some ideas if anyone has any.

so enough talk, here it is.....

the car has been lowered just a bit by the previous owners. how low can you get the car to keep it legal? i don't want to get much attention from them. the police get real fussy about it all, especially where i live

100mm with whatever load you have in the car...

so say its a highway night with all your mates, near full tank of petrol and shit in the back, then its not meant to be lower than 100mm from the lowest point under your car eg: the muffler on the exhaust, chassis rail, or even the bit thats there for the jack when swapping a tire..

btw: nice car... like said above, get some tint, lower it, enjoy it (then turbo it, naturally)

also, towbars come in handy especially when in the city in heavy traffic as instead of someone hitting your rear bar and fucking it up, it will just tap the bar and if anything, shift the car forward as one..

nice car mate, looks to be in good condition. Hopefully helping change the vision that most people have in there heads of the taxi spec AU1 forte. The Au2 resembles the Ba in a lot of ways. I really wish they squared off the lights in later models tho, would have been leaps and bounds for the AU's appearance.

if you want the car low but clearly legal, put it on superlow's. otherwise go ultralows and it will look slammed ! check my thread for how low mine sits on them :) i've had no trouble from police !

if u have a tbar then just leave sl's. I havent on mine and I can clear all speed bumps etc without scraping my muffler.

speed bumps are fine. Steep driveways are the biggest problem. im not sure how scraping a muffler has anything to do with a TE bar tho.

yea sorry, i made no sense. it was just an example, thats the lowest point of my car and it doesnt scrape. just leave on your current springs then unless the scraping isn't too bad go for the ultras :)

got pulled over last night off chapel street. first time ive ever been pulled over. unmarked police car pulled me over because they heard the exhaust when i took off at some traffic lights. nothing happened though. just checked my license and breath tested me. all was fine.

p.s. measured the car from the lowest point to the ground and it is at 100mm. that is with no one inside and boot empty. i guess its just the factory rims that are doing it???

my car is just at 100mm and its tucking in the tire, from the photo your front looks already low. i think you could drop the back a little more to get rid of that tyre to guard gap :)

Looks like a neat car. The AUs are getting cheap as now so they're such a good buy! Get some AUIII clear side repeaters for it, and it'll be mint!
