The Hard Road

Postby Weapon XF » February 8th, 2011, 8:22 pm

Hey guys new to site I've been building an XF with a 4ltr and pretty much ready to turbo here's my specs.

XF Fairlane seats front and rear. A C4 Stg 3 Shift Kit (Manual Valve Body) w/ B&M Quik Silver Shifter. Also has a TCE hi-stall converter I forget specs on that.AU S3 6cyl w/ Ross racing pistons + Machining for Extra Valve Lift Turbo Rings - Spool H Beam Rods - Atomic Cam - Atomic Springs - Atomic Adjustable Cam Gear Chain Set... - Atomic Retainers - Atomic locks - Atomic Screw in Head Studs - ACL Race Bearings - Mellings Oil Pump - ACL Race Gasket Set - Ross Harmonic Balancer - New Main Bolts - Face Block - Tourque Plate Hone - Acid Dip Block - Complete Dynamic Balance - Sand Blast Head - 3 Angle Valve Seat Cut - Face Valves - Re Seat Guides- Ceramic Coat Exhaust Valve - New Seals Bigger Exhaust Valves - Blue Print Head Assembly - Complete Blue Print of Engine Assembly eg Dummy Assemble to Check Clearances then Reassemble// Adding a 9" LSD 3.5:1 Geared Diff w/ 31 Spline Billet steel Axels and a 3.5" Tailshaft w/ a welded (not bolted) Tailshaft Loop.

Here's the cam specs
Stage 3 Atomic #306590 Cam

Advertised Inlet duration 261°
Advertised Exhaust duration 261°
Inlet duration at .050” lift 200°
Exhaust duration at .050” lift 200°
Valve lift - inlet and exhaust .501”
Lobe centres 114°

So my problem is my engine builder seems to be half assing my car. When he cut the dizzy wires to the old engine they weren't taped up or cut back and were arching on the chassis causing a small (luckly) wire fire. This could have burnt my car to the ground and ended the dream. So understandably I'm looking around for someone in Perth who'll take care of my car as I would. So any suggestions would be good cheers guys!!!

Oh and if your keen to see the build so far here's the scrapbook.

Should put the motor in an XE. I don't see what people like about XF's. Fugly tail lights and generally a watered down version of the awesomeness that is an XE.

No offense but I really don't give a shit what you think mate. The XF was one of Fords most successful cars and my personal opinion on XE's is that they're fugly but I wouldn't jump on a forum and bag out someones car without cause so piss off!!

Sorry if that offends you but your very existence offends me.

XFs are cheap and will remain cheap because they didnt have a V8 option. Saw a 3.3 XE go for like 4k on ebay in like december or nov :|

Compared to an XE, yes.

Before you get your knickers in a knot, that isn't bagging out the OPs car, which looks like a nice clean example, and I'm sure will go hard when it's turbo'ed. But they do look like watered-down XE's, made to prepare the public for the EA.

everyone has their own opinion. i probably only like them because when i was a kid all we had were xf's and my first car was an xf. '
i just cant see how anyone can think they r shit. my only problem with them is the no v8 or turbo option... altho there r more and more getting done which is awesome!

I wasn't giving shit to the guys car. I used to have an XF myself. Why anyone would want to build one is a mystery tho.

Stop twisting peoples words. Who said they were shit? I said they look shit compared to an XE, as did TUFED6. I've owned 2 as well, my XF EFI 4spd S-pack was the most fun car I've ever owned, it took 11ty billion flat-shifts while dropping VN SS's, and gearsticks ripping out about a thousand times being it's biggest problem.

I agree with tufed6 and Aaron.

XEs are a wayyyyy tuffer looking.

SEX ESP>XFO 747.

Aaron, lol at ripping shifters out, I use to carry the appropriate tools in my XF for that occasion!
