Hey guys,im Bryan i got a an XD falcon which i was contemplatinf on building a tough clevo for it (motor is out/been out for almost a year now)Very keen to drive the XD.Recently my AU was written off a guy went through a giveway sign and collected the rear of the AU.So im keeping the car and using the motor and box in my XD.I'm going to also do a turbo conversion with it and run a GT3582r turbo or equivalant.Run 10 to 15psi on the standard motor as i have seen a couple on here which have done so.So hope to get to know a few of you cheers.

Fark. Mint XE. Best colour combo too.
Good that you will have options for the motor too. Thats what I'll probs end up doing with my Mustang.
Edit: XD - fingers confused

Definitely looks the goods.
If you're planning on building another motor for it anyway, either hold off and put the good one in straight up, or run <10psi in the AU motor...many more people on here have busted them at 10psi or less than have managed to make them live at anything over that.

At the moment money is alittle tight and i miss driving my D.It's an XD has leaf rear end, just has all the XE ghia gear on it lol. It's only a weekend car so i dont mind just being careful with the current AU motor, lol. The D looks good but is rough, but yeah get the AU motor and box in and make up a log manifold, put in a bosch 044 fuel pump,up grade the fuel reg and injectors, front mount.Go from there. Also just going to run the 2.92lsd diff till i need to upgrade.cheers

nothing beats the sound of a Clevo. Also you can fit one without hassles from rta or police.
Turbo is another option. It's the most popular thing to do, but a late model motor in an XD is rare.

I'm still keeping my 51 clevo in the corner for one day when i decide i was that V8 punch lol.But for now want alittle change and go a 6 with a turbo.I still have my clevo powered Escort, which i need to do a quick rebuild on the motor and then i can boost it aswell.

Pics of the esky or you will have a swift kick to the nuts.
Nothing better, Escort + V8 = a large chubby.

These were at PCM 2011 this year lol.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkPSMU-T6aUhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TFCwZNDqRAJust remember i only put an ugly dirty old clevo in it,from a old ZK fairlane just a 302 its sprung a leak into the oil now im thinking a split bore as it had well over 350,000km on it when i took it to PCM thrashed for the full 3 days lol.Took me around 6months of weekends and some late nights to build it.It actually started as a 1.6L ghia then someone dropped a worked 2L into then i got it,then i cut it up and fitted a V8 clevo, did heaps of fabricating, its rough but does the job.Only thing i didnt end up doing was the tailshaft adaptor plate and shortening the tailshaft as i got a good friend to do those this for me.

love the XD, same sorta thing as mine with the XE ghia front end looks heaps better. what stopped you from building the clevo? i6 with some boost will be just as fun, but wont have the same feel/sound when youre cruising lol

Just for a change for abit,im still going to keep the clevo/v8 gear for one day when i change my mind lol.Never going to sell the D.I want to build a tough 393 for the XD one day.But for now i got a free 4L and auto i can use so why not use it and boost it too.hahahaha
This conversion will take a couple of months so i will post up as i go.cheers

Not much of an update but heres the XD sitting in the corner of the shed. After christmas it all begins ill try to drop in the AU 4L and 4spd auto and get it all running in the week i have off. Then mount the intercooler and make up a turbo manifold and see what goes from there.

Ok sorry once again for "clogging up a thread"......
Ok i have a delema,im interested in fabricating a noodle style turbo manifold.Have seen quiet a few turbo manifold on V8's and 6's and they have been made out of mild steel, whats the biggest drama with making them out of mild steel compared to steam pipe???All i can think of is if i fabricate it out of mild steel i would have to brace it to prevent the noodles from cracking or bending when getting hot....cheers

Noodle? You mean like tuned length? Depending on the thickness of the steel you may not have to brace it, but most times you can just run a bit of steel from the turbo flange across to the exhaust flange to brace it, and fab up an exhaust mount close to the front of the exhaust so the weight of the exhaust isn't 'hanging' off the back of the turbo.
You shouldn't have any dramas anyway, but if you're planning on getting it white hot occasionally it's probably better to be sure...

Thanks Rollin,i really like the idea of the tuned length style should also help with the exhaust flow aswell.I will be bracing it.cheers

Ok now just trying to sort out the fuel side of things,im going with an external bosch 044 fuel pump 2-3L surge tank,60lb injectors. Now would it be ok if i removed the stock fuel reg and used a XR6 Turbo fuel reg???Wont need a rising rate fuel reg???
Also will i need to upgrade my Map sensor???cheers

Mines not real dude lol.Its a mock up one.Id like to have 2 one an original and a fake one.So the fake one you can do all the modding to and the real one just to have an original ESP.

If you are going to use a programmable ECU you wont need a rising rate reg.

Love your Xd mate, I'm currently building a 393 for my XD/ XE ghia mock. Getting really hard to find one of these that isn't a rust bucket these days. Will be tuff with the turbo'd 4ltr in it. Keep us posted with updates.

Thanks mate, yeah i was decind whether to build a 393 for it as the stroker kits are becoming cheap. But was luckilly enough to have a 4L and 4spd literally sitting there and can use it lol,the story goes.
As you can see i got a V8 escort so no i got a V8 and a turboed 6.The escort is getting a new engine a little 302 windsor,4200rpm stall and a 100 shot of nos aswell, see if i cant get the front wheels off the ground lol.
