My ED Fairmont

Postby Stig » May 17th, 2012, 6:51 pm

Hey all, I'm new to this site but I'm sure I will pick it up very quick :write:
I've got a 1994 ED Fairmont, just a few mods. I am currently thinking about a turbo set up.
But for now it's getting the things I'd like for the car, ED XR6 LSD and a XH air snorkel. Which I am still searching for :?
This is the most recent picture I have of the car.
Hope you enjoy!

Current set up is:
Speedy cobalt 17x8 rims
Front DBA slotted rotors
Braided brake lines all round
Low king springs front & rear
Monroe gt gas shocks front & rear
K&N panel air filter
Ea intake pipe
Redback extractors and 2.5 inch system
Clarion 7 inch flip screen head unit
Rockford fosgate and DLS speakers

every now and again i'm adding bits and pieces but that's just the basics
still have to get around getting some latest pics of the car...

yeah well I decided super lows in the first place, but since I hadn't seen how they look I decided to go with lows. Might not be the lowest thing on the road but that's not what I was going for. I was going for being able to drive the car anywhere no problems ;)

superlows are low enough to look good without being illegal.
they are only on the verge of being illegal if you have 14" stockies, the 17s will being the car back up a bit.

to look right the lowering shud sit just on the wheels and tyres ,no gap i wud go super low as stated above.as an example have a look at fotos of my car , that how it shud b done. just so it dusnt sit like a 4wd. ahahha.u shudnt have dramas with speed humps etc unless u have a custom ba gt bar like mine wich is a bitch cas it rubs on everthing, cas it sits much lower to the ground than standard bars. cheers mate.

haha yes, more pics to come soon just been a tad busy lately. I'm deciding to fix up some little things before I may buy some superlows, but I did find a buyer for the low springs if I get rid of them :)
On another topic anyone got a fix for the bearing that goes through the firewall at the bottom of the steering column? It fell apart a while ago & it's driving me nuts!!!!

yes it is a nice snorkel :P
no I havent done the head work yet, i'm getting it dynoed again on wednesday then I will be saving up for the head work plus cam kit. Decided to go with twin thermo fan conversion out of EL & J3 chip as well.
Oh well that's a bit of a bugger, I was told I could just replace the section that goes through the firewall so I can keep my ignition barrell.

You can pull the ancillaries off your column and put them on the new one. You only need a bare column to swap out :drinks2: only takes about 30 mins.

Monroes arent that good. I bought a brand new shortened set, lasted a short time. Bought a diff with some second hand Pedders short ones, heaps better. Id recommend Pedders at least!

Postby Stig » June 11th, 2013, 11:02 pm

It's been a while since I've posted here!!!!
Not much has changed really, for a while I had my old 15'' wheels on, in an attempt to sell the 17'' cobalt wheels for a set of Simmons FR17..
That was a complete waste of time ha ha
So the Speedy cobalts went back on after a rushed paint job :-( Although they didn't turn out too bad I guess!
A long awaited bob tail spoiler went on the car, fitment was crap, but still looks half descent!
The fitment of a larger Derale transmission cooler was fitted, easily twice the size.
As much as I thought I was going to wait till the motor was finished, a J3 pre - programmed chip was fitted up as well as an EL ECU
New diff, 3.23:1 LSD I bought off a mate. For some strange reason I had issues mounting the sway bar to, and that problem hasn't been rectified, but it is an easy fix.
A few paint jobs on certain things(a lot was rushed, ending in a dodgy result in some areas ;) more work for another day ha ha)
An end result?
More smiles, more power for the N/A :)
Still building the car to how I want it, and seem to be getting good feedback from it.
In the process of purchasing GT sport shocks for the rear, and maybe some super low springs :)
But first thing's first, fixing that damn Subaru I bought..
Yes, I bought a 1990 Liberty
..enough said, some pictures when I was playing around with the camera
