Blast from the past - my car

Hi all,

Not a Falcon but i'm sure some of you will like it. Here is a photo of when I bought it home:

And here is a photo of how it looks today.

This is my humble pride, 89 Telstar TX5. It's garaged and covered six days a week, washed weekly, waxed every two weeks, paint protected monthly. Full synthetic oil, United 100 ocatane only, no expense spaired. Details in signature. Coilovers will be installed next week. Here are some questions pre-answered.

"It's a f***ing Telstar, why bother?"
- I actually don't know, I just really like it.
"Bro, does it dose?"
- It doses so loud, local wildlife gathers.
"It's not even a Falcon. Get off the forum"
- My daily is an AU, i'm just introducing my pride and joy.
"That cooler piping is wrong and the cooler is upside down, newb."
- Yes, yes it is.However the piping can't be installed any other way without severely weaking the frame.

Thanks -

Any cars are welcome here, just people with shit attitudes aren't.

Sick Telstar btw, I reckon the piping looks good like that, makes it stand out I reckon.

How much power?

Thanks, I didn't expect such positive feedback - Photo's are on the way. After work tomorrow I'll take it out and get some snaps. The windows have just been tinted 20% < legal i forgot to mention.

Thanks NUT347 I think the piping is allright too. It hasn't been dynoed but I would roughly say between 115-130kw atw. It sort of doesn't like starting smoothly ever since the head rebuild.. sparks and leads are only about 4 months old.. got me stumped.

Looks like a nice example. ;)

Surely you can get another cooler with the outlet in the right spot??

Thanks Fez, wow I would love to see one brand new..cheers Parfrey. I wish I could.. I originally had a left/right cooler but the positioning of the right headlight housing won't allow for it as well as the airconditioning pulley (which I don't care about) that unfortunately drives the power steering as well. Would have been a rediculous lot of messing around and cash to get it left/right :(

check all the vacuum lines on the back of the head n check the water controls around the throttle body - big effect on idle n start, also a weak point on this model.

if the heads been done good chance the issue is here somewheres.

Lol cool. I've always liked the Telstar liftbacks that came out before your model (mid 80s), nearly bought a poo-gold one 10 yrs ago.

Yeah they were awesome but not sure about the diarreaah brown. The red, white or black over silver was niceee. The 2.0L OHC turbo for that model only had 87kw and whats called a vortex airflow meter that looked like a big saucepan. They were mysterious, hard to work on and virtually impossible to find nowadays :P

mostly split lines or disconnected / incorrectly pipes lines, or blockages, also that model had problems with the throttle body (both mazda and ford) causing problems for like no reason, easier to replace (you can buy new aftermarket ones)

smarter to fit one off maybe an RB25DET and fit a haltec or even microtech to solve the problem permanently.
