G'day all - ef fairmont 5.0

Postby Mark_efv8 » February 21st, 2013, 9:43 pm

Hey all this is my first post. My reasons for joining this forum is too hopefully improve on my knowledge base of e-series falcons and get to know the general community of falcon owners. Here's a general overview of my current car.

My daily driver is an ef fairmont 5.0 which I've recently done a few mods to. They are:
- std gt40p heads (reconditioned) with duel valve springs good for .500 lift.
- xh xr8 inlet manifold (cobra style)
- advance headers (I think 2 1/4 outlet)
- 3 inch cat back exhaust (red back and it's already rusted)
- custom maf sensor housing (essentially a 3 inch pipe)

Other than that it's pretty much stock. My plans for the immediate future are:
- custom tune - maybe a j3 chip first and then tweaked on a dyno
- cold air intake - maybe custom
- its also running duel fuel so I would like to get hold of a 425 mixer
- 3.45 LSD diff
- lowered springs and better shocks - the thing handles like crap at the moment
- either a manual conversion or a tricked up auto

That's about all I can think of at the moment. I've also got an old xp falcon running a 250 4 spd but that's a workin progress.
Any input regarding the above mods would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Mark

Welcome to the forums mate, the beauty about the J3 is that you can store store multiple tunes on it. So you can have two tunes to suit LPG and the other for petrol which are only a switch away!

I would be tempted to use a GasResearch throttle body as you can get one with a throttle position sensor drive n mount then simply bolt on in place of your factory petrol throttle body and your car will work on petrol or gas no worries and appear stock.

Jets and metering rods are easily available and forced induction is far easier to fit with this setup too.

BTW I am a fan of the EF, my housemate has one (6 cyl GT35/40) and with a few mods it handles beautifully.

matt.
lifes' short, if you aren't doing what you want to do then you need to start now......
