Hi Everybody,
I'm new the to this site and Falcon engines. I own a 1992 Ford Sapphire which originally had an Essex 3.0L V6.
In the quest for more power and speed the normal thing here was to do Strokers, twin turbos or go the V8 route.
This was not for me. I love my Sapphire and decided to do something not so normal like everyone else.
I fitted a Falcon 4.0L straight 6 engine to it.
Will post pics shortly.

Welcome to the forum Mate, What you've got sounds pretty cool. Did you have to modify the Firewall at all? Very Keen to see pictures.

Thank you for the great welcome guys!
I was hoping when I register on this site the mod I did in my car would be quite common. Am I wrong?
How do I post pics? Do I use photobucket?
Cheers

Thing is how much did it cost you to import a 4L over to South Africa?, would of been pricey no?

I did not cut the firewall surprisingly for the way I fitted the engine.
At first it seemed impossible that it would fit but hey, when there's a will there's a way.
Modified the crossmember, altered the sump and made new engine mounts.
I was a bit worried about the engine weight hanging more towards the front but
but this all went away when I drove the car.
Handling was good even the cornering was good and I couldn't
notice it to be any worse than my mates car with the essex v6.
In fact my car handled better as I had fitted coilovers with stiffer
springs and shocks.
I raced my Focus ST against my Sapphire and the Focus lost bigtime!

So is this a Barra or a SOHC you've fitted?

As you can see straight 6 goes into 1 Sapphire time( Math lesson

)
So now i have bought a Territory ST Turbo motor and that is gonna be fitted soon, i hope.
The engine is longer and higher so i think i WILL have to cut or alter things further to get this in...

You may have to alter to get the Territory motor to fit. It looks awesome with the EL motor in it! Great work dude

Are many people shocked when you tell them you shoehorned a 4 litre straight 6 into that engine bay?
Imo turbo that motor its already fitted and you won't have to cut anything to make it fit

Also proof that it does drive.
This is when i collected it after being sprayed the third time.
My other car was the Ford Focus ST225 and needless to say there was a boxing match match on the way home.
The Focus lost......

This is a happy story lol.
Maybe check out threads of BA/BF Motors into E-Series. You may find you'll have to do similar mods to sump / K-frame / bonnet bracing.
Say the word and we can merge your 2 threads.

Thats epic! The little car would haul arse even with that engine in there lol. Going to be a pearler with the turbo barra in there! Might be a prick to get it to fit though.
