My Au series I Fairlane!

hey guys! just introducing my self and my baby! My names jack, I'm from Victoria and currently a 2nd apprentice mechanic.
This is my 99 AU series 1 Lane that i got for $2000 half way through Feb! just been getting her up to road worthy status! its taken me a little longer than expected just with having to balance out school and currently working 2 days a week.
basically I've just had to find all the leaks and fix them, as well as other little bits and pieces. I had to put standard height springs back in it since they it had dodgy as chopped springs in it, due to me being gullible and the previous owner telling me they were ultra lows haha.
After i get all the rego and insurance sorted is when i plan to get the mods happening! any suggestions would be sweet!

The day i got her

When i got the standard height springs in! geez did it make a difference haha

Wanting to get a set of lowered springs, like Lows in the front and Super Lows in the back, with lowered struts! then slap a set of 19" Advanti Sonic rims on it, with white walls of course haha.
if anyone has any suggestions to what else i can do to her would be much appreciated! cheers.

Very nice mate, always loved these in the gold.

if my understanding is correct the low/sl combo won't do much.

I think they're pretty similar to ba, and I had Ssl front and sssl rear in mine before I was happy with the height.
Depends how low you want it though. That never got any negative attention (my exhaust though was another story haha)

Sssl rear and ssl front was still high enough to only scrape on the very worst of speed bumps...

I havent been really been able to find an accurate example i can go off with height, people say they have super lows and theyre either stupidly low or just right, basically i just want it to sit nicely with the 19s probably a tiny bit lower in the rear, but just so it sits fairly level and is functional haha, before hand when it had chopped springs i couldnt even get the hoist arm pads underneath the bloody thing without having to get someone to lift up the side or get a jack haha!

very nice ba aswell! cheers :)

I'd say they probably do have supers, then cut them or compressed them haha
I know that feeling, currently trying to find some accurate pics of an NC on just lows, it's bloody impossible, they either say they do and are dumped or are pretty much stock height and pointless.

I look forward to seeing this cruising around, regardless what you choose to do :)

Thanks mate, long gone now unfortunately, was a great car

ill have to do a bit of research and trial an error with different heights and that i suppose! all i know is that low is a 30mm drop, and SL is a 50mm drop haha!

i go for my P's in june so around then you should be seeing her getting around quite a bit haha ;)

falcon IRS SSL's for the rear and super lows for the front. Will sit nice, they weight more then a standard falcon so it will sit lower and look good :)

Ah fair point xr6jet, I forgot to allow for the extra weight, my bad.

I honestly cannot find SSL springs to suit though! Haha if you had link to somewhere that sells them that would be sweet!

Go on the king springs website and view the SSLs catalogue and find the part number for fairlane IRS SSLs. There are a few sellers who sell them on ebay and surely they could track them down?

I didn't think there was a specific fairlane spring?

Just use an IRS falcon spring. That's what I'm doing.

This is basically how i want the lane to look eventually with the Advanti sonics! and I have finally found a set of SSL's for it, just gotta save up for a bit, Rego and insurance cleaned out my bank account pretty quick!
Thoughts on the sticker bombed door handles? i reckon it looks sick haha! did this all in photo shop!

You want a good mix of chrome and colour and a nice height to set these cars off. They don't need much !

I seen a car with sticker bomber wheels and they looked shIt.

Wouldnt suit it IMO.

Slammed on 20' Chrome Wires and leave the outside factory.

Would look mint.

not really a big fan on the wires! haha theres a statesman going around where i live and its just put me off them!

but xr6tjet youre right! I'm thinking of going with what you suggested, sl front with ssl rear! would sit real nice! id love to chuck a set of 20" agents like yours on it with white walls! but they cost to much! haha i think the Advantis are a bit different though and haven't seen them on a car where i live!

Is it a daily? If so you will hate whitewalls. I grew out of them and am glad I don't do them anymore. Too much maintenance, maybe for a show car that gets taken out once in a while they're fine. Honestly man your car won't take much to look mint even slammed on stock rims looks mint. Big rubber on fairlanes look nice!

Yeah she's a daily man! I'm kinda sick of the stock rims! I'd love to have a set of 20's on it and lowered again! I want it to stand out! Haha and just to look better then some of the commonwhores going around! Haha
On another note too, what are some good mechanical mods I could be doing to get the old girl a bit more ballsy, I've been thinking exhaust and intake, perhaps a shift kit and a 3:45 LSD for now, is there anything I can do?

I'd replace the main muff with an offset one (like a Redback), and if you want more noise later you can delete the rear one.

Maybe get the rims you want first (if you feel the need to change them) then whack the first set of springs back in you had. Might sit at the height you want it then.
