Another white eb

Postby GQuick » January 31st, 2015, 9:45 pm

Hi guys, long time watcher, first time poster. Proud second owner of a 91 eb fairmont. 167xxx Kms on the clock, stock as a rock when I got it. Hours cleaning it up and making it as close to showroom as I could. I fitted ftr rims and genuine ford clear indicators. Has a tickford head being ported and worked as I type this, new crow cam, bigger valves etc. 4480s to go on with new cat and exhaust to go on with the head ..pretty much a standard eb build in progress.

Thanks guys

Ben

getting closer now ...got the 4480s off being ceramic coated, got a 100cpsi cat on order from venom, 2.5 redback exhaust waiting to be fitted ...all after the new head gets fitted next week ...all the stainless and billet goodies are finally going to come to fruition ...anything I should consider doing at the same time? head is fully serviced, ported and polished, oversize stainless valves both in and out, new springs etc, new billet cam ....anything obvious I may have overlooked? ...reminds me, must order my j3 lol

What a difference ...bring on the new head. Went for the 4480s, 100cpsi venom 400 series cat and full red back exhaust with full size mufflers. Nice note and not too loud until you want it to be.

Picked up a nice clean NC leather wheel today...if only I could get clean cruise buttons that haven't gone chalky ...anyone have any ideas where to possibly get some or bring the existing ones back to life?

turns out the new (?) meguiars extreme dash and detailing stuff works wonders on the cruise buttons ...few applications have them looking alright again. Ordered the j3 today, picked up an EL XR6 ECU today along with some thermo fans and AU upper arms ...ordered the adaptors today too ...HOPEFULLY next week the head will be going on. Also got the NC (darker) climate control and trip computer in today with the bad weather. Slowly getting there. Next will be the suspension and brakes ...then eventually a lick of paint all over.

Hey mate for future reference, use vasoline or baby oil on your cruise buttons, you'll need to apply it maybe once a year if that, it will transform even the greyest faded rough feeling buttons to a shiny black again.

Ebay sell new remanufactured ones. There sold as covers so you'll need to remove the old cover and fit new.

If you have extractors and an exhaust to suit say 2 1/2" with mandrel bend will be fine with back pressure.

I reckon converting to serpentine drive belt would be a good idea, the 3 belt setup is crap.

There are a heap of threads in here with info on how to do it.

Was gonna do it when I changed the balancer but couldn't justify it at the time as all the bolt ons were in good condition. In the process of collecting brand new alt, PS pump, ac pump etc then will bolt it all on. Don't like doing things by halves. Even more keen considering I twisted (5x) the good old alt belt and shredded the **** last week in less than 1000kms lol
