Hey where to start lol.

Hi Dan here thought id get started. New to this forum. Been a big VL man for a long time.
Owned a 430rwkw calais for many years. She's gone now.
Guess its time for something different!!
I bought an EB Fairmont off an old lady late last year. :D
Very Very clean car in the while color.
Been toying with the turbo idea for some time now.
As I work in a performance shop ill be doing all my own fab work and tuning.
Boss hates fords lol!! hes a holden nut so I thought id stir the pot a little

Anyways be cool to hear some ideas, im looking at a power figure around the 350rwkw mark and am
experimenting with gearbox ideas. Toying with the idea of a 3A box and the torsen ford diff.
Ill get some starter pics up of the beast in a little.

Oh! One more thing, that red ED in the header up top? the wheels, what are they??? they look like AMG style??

Cheers.

Dan.

Welcome mate,

430rwkw in a VL sounds like fun! :D

Can't really help you with advice for hitting 350rwkw (I'm more of a V8 guy) but there's a few members here who are around/above that figure:

340.1rwkw EA Falcon T/C ------------ EASPRINT
357rwkw EA Falcon turbo 4.ol---------ea ba turbo
380rwkw@12psi EB Falcon turbo--------- Stevo_538
394.2rwkw EL Falcon turbo 4.0l -------Fritzz
398.7rwkw EA falcon Turbo ----------- Turbo Tony (Caravan tower)
451.3rwkw EL XR6 Turbo --------------- PYROAY (427rwkw street tune)
460rwkw ED Falcon 4.0 Turbo -------- TUFED6

Is this the banner pic you mean?

The member is "onereded", they're Directors I think? One of the best looking rims out there I reckon!

Cheers

Thanks for the comments guys

I love those wheels!!!! On my shopping list for sure!. I haven't touched my car yet! lol! Stock as!
I'll be getting into it soon. :D

What bottom ends from you guys experiance will hold around the 300-350 figure in stock form.
The car will run on the street at around the 280-300 figure and only bumped up at the track for some fun.
I noticed Tims white EA tuned by Mike used a stock bottom end. What model would be the pick of the bunch?
Ive heard the EL bottom end?? Going to put a combo together on a stand and then put it in.

god I love those wheels!!!! what are they worth??

AJR directors can be had for about $500 in acceptable condition as far as I know. A few members on here have them I believe. You can put up a wanted thread to see if anyone's looking to get rid of a set.
Not sure about the bottom end stuff but I believe an ACL rebuild kit is a good way to go for freshening up an EB motor. Then turbo.
AU engines seem to be a popular choice for high end turbo and require only minimal modification to the sump to fit E-series K-frames. Probably more cost effective in comparison to building up an oldish EB engine. 100,000km examples can be had for sub-$500.

All the best and progress photos are a must! :)

Dont listen to him Dan hes a nuffy!!!

AJR Directors are pretty damn rare most people have a Set and a few spares, The outers damage pretty easy id be thinking more around $900+ for a set. For the power ur looking at stock bottom end prob wont cut it after some abuse so id be looking at rods and the like bottom up build,

A basic rebuild Kit which consists of bearings, seals and rings wont hold 350rwkw day in day out itd be cheaper to stock pile engines and just swap ala EFFalcon style :P

the rebuild kit is only part of what you will need, Then you would wont to decomp aswell a couple of MLS head gaskets or a Decomp plate...

He's talking about a 350rwkw turbo setup :?

Of course compression (or preferred lack thereof) comes into it

Thanks for the info guys :D

I had a feeling those rims would be a little hard to get.

From my experiance with ACL parts that idea can stay on the shelf...

I like the sounds of cheap EL motor swaps after a breakage lol. :D

Im a soft tuner and very conservative so I can look after a stocker.

I ran an Atmo RB30 into the 11s with no hasstles.

See how I go with a low Km EL motor for now hey

Prob get a nice head sorted with cam, springs and go a commetic head gasket with ARP studs.

cross fingers lol :D

Always when I have no cash

Ill be getting stuck into the EB shortly, just fixing up the basics of the car at moment.

Can anyone tell me if EB fairmont series 1 came out with a 4litre? Even if its like right at the end of the production run?
People are telling me that its not the original 4 litre in it but I have the original books. Anyone?

It COULD still be a 3.9. IIRC there was a bit of a changeover period.
