hey all, my EF futura

Introduce yourself and your ride.

hey all, my EF futura

Postby Billy » March 14th, 2009, 7:10 pm

gday, my names Billy and im from SA. i drive an EF futura, which is, at the moment, where every cent i earn goes. ive done a few things with it, mostly audio stuff, but also just some little cosmetic things which i think make her look a little bit unique and special.
Image
thats the engine bay, stock standard at the moment, just a few licks of paint.
Image
thats what she looks like, since that photo was taken ive removed the 4.0OHC stickers from the sides and tinted the indicator repeaters slightly. also, the mudflaps are gone thank god lol.
Image
thats what she looks like at night, lights are on a switch so i can turn them on and off as i please, my interior light is blue also.
Image
i tinted the tail lights but only slightly as to keep them legal. they look much nicer now then they did before.
my stereo consists of an Alpine head unit and type R 6.5 inch front coaxials, my rear speakers are Pioneer 3-way 6X9's and my amp is a 4-channel sony XM-4s.
any comments would be nice, great to be on board.
thanks

Looks nice, good to see your Adelaide too. Meet-ups FTW.

Would look good lowered. Start a thread in the rides section. What sort of exhaust you got?

Do you live in the hills?

ticky43: thanks, the engine bay has always been very clean since i bought it. and in regards to wheels/kit, im planning on dropping it on lows or superlows so i'll check out rims after that.

Blueoval: thanks very much mate, good to know there are others in SA! im looking at a raptor V charger, are they easy to fit?? i knew someone would recognise lofty!! :P

SLO247: yeah its not the summit car park, its the botanic gardens car park, i went up to the summit, and aside from nearly being killed by an idiotic R32 skyline driver i found there was too many cars there. to i went down just past the mercure hotel there and into the gardens car park. i managed to get the park at 90 degrees only sign in the background there too haha.

I took off the falcon and futura badge this afternoon and for some strange reason i thought there wouldnt be holes underneath it?? anyway, any tips on what to fill the holes with?? and does anybody know where i can buy some argon silver touch up paint also.

thanks for the comments all!

actually it didnt take me that long, probably all of a half hour. I just cut and pasted pieces to match really, its also useful if you leave the doorhandles on and it has a boot lid and doors ;) i basically took everything i could find that wasnt smooth and chopped it haha, only things i actually do want to do is badges, towbar is useful so i think i'll leave it. now just waiting for an SA meet so i can meet some of the guys and gals of the club.

Billy, there is a drive-in night at the Gepps Cross drive ins this saturday night. There will be a mass of cars there to see the new Eric Bana movie 'Love the beast'. Alternatively, there is a hills cruise on 2nd of May with the Adelaide Cruizn Fords club.

your best place to start to get some grunt is an exhaust. let the engine breathe easier. a nice 2.5 or 3 inch exhaust, some nice extractors (pacmakers preferably) and a hi-flo cat will make her sound alot better and you'll feel a bit more broom too.

Hey Billy, I reckon you'll be up for around $1250 for pacemaker 4499's, a high flow cat, 2.5" mandrel bent 'redback' exhaust with offset straight thru muffler. I got this price from AAA Exhausts in Richmond. Speak to Drew. These guys do quality work. Plus Drew has an EF he drives and he has basically the system I quoted and can show you the potential sound for your car.

Hey buddy, thats a nice clean car there.
As suggested, i'd look into a shift kit also, they are cheap as and do make a difference. Another cheapy is also a tickford snorkel and a high flow panel or pod filter, probably wont give any noticable power but just the added satisfaction that your car is breathing a lot better.

Benny Mac
EF XR6: 1673 wade cam, upgraded valve springs, vernier cam gear, ported head, high volume oil pump, CAI, Pacey 4480's, high flow metal cat, cat back exhaust, 2500-3000rpm stally, shift kit, ba sss shifter, Capa eliminator chip, RDA slotted rotors, EBC greenstuff pads. Much more to come.

i can honestly say to you all, never go to blackwood dyno tune & service. after charging well over $400 more than they quoted. i get my car home to find that the entire electrical system is just about rooted. occasionaly it immobilises, while im driving..... accelerator gets stuck down, it immobilses when i turn the key off, but doesnt start when i try to start it. the abs came on today as i was driving which was extremely dangerous. it occasionally completely dies in the ass when i flick the high beams on also. it is having serious problems on gas and im extremely pissed off. its going back on monday, if its not fixed consumer affairs will be hearing from me. on a lighter note, i bought a JL audio g series 1700 monoblock today and put a deposit on an alpine 500WRMS type R sub. should have it all in in a week or so.

so i got my car back today from the guys at blackwood. they fixed everything, no fuss. and didnt charge for it. im very happy with their response to my complaint. im still getting around to taking some shots of the car without the black strips on the side, but i should do that within the next couple days. a mate of mine is buying some audio stuff for his car. its a green EB, i think its horn but he hates it hahaha. so thats where im at for the minute. post pics soon.

i also found out that my left hand engine mount is soft, and there is alot of travel in it. so i'll need to get that fixed up too. is that the kind of job i could do myself?

well my falc got hit by a truck in the carpark at work, my insurance company wont pay up, but im going to fix it. boot lid is rooted, panel under the lights is rooted, and rear right quarter panel is shot. both tail lights are broken too. my panelbeater quoted 15 hours work, so i think i'll do it myself. shes not looking very good at the moment though.

well i was coming out of a carpark and the truck came around a corner and tried to get around behind me when he hit me, so apparently its my fault for not stopping. though the truck was speeding and he didnt stop when i was halfway out of a carpark.
