use the AU metal head gaskit
use the AU head bolts

head machining is a must....about $50-100 for basic no stress testing

I used an AU gasket and headbolts but ive already fuked it up. I didn't get the head machined and when i put it back together it leaked coolant everywhere. Ahh well. live and learn.

Lol. Did you clean the head up? Why did you have to do the head gasket? Did you overheat it?

I've done about 10 like this. None have fukked up.

I dont think i cleaned the head properly or tightened the headbolts enough. I only gave them 40nm without any 90 degress turns lol.

You have to give it the 90 degree turns. Drain the coolant and just tighten it up now, see if that works - you never know. You might get a few thousand kays out of it or it might last a lifetime

Ive already taken it to a mechanic lol. cost me $800

haha your brave you will probably get ppl asking how to change spark plugs. or an air filter.

tis all good i dont mind. not everyone choose to be a mechanic in there working life to many mechanics charge to arms and a leg. then throw in a hidden surpise. because the rear caliper was sticking. added some fancy words to just either spraying the hand brake mech. or replacing it. and throwing in your brake line was frayed lucky i spotted it.. etc etc oh a wheel stud was no good so i replaced it. oh and if your female.. geez the list gets even bigger.

i make a check list. explain to the customers what has to and what doesn't have to be fixed straight away but should be planned in the near future they go home make a decision and have a slight understanding what was done and know where there car stands. helps that i work casually in a road worthy shop i dont know everything but willing to sit down and discuss it. 2 heads work better then one
