WHO would ever suspect you could be pulled over by police driving a pimpmobile?

Queensland police are hitting the road in gangster-style cars included in a new stealth fleet aiming to blend in with the driving public.

Last week, a Chrysler 300C, priced around $60,000, was seen pulling over a speeding motorist on the Bruce Highway near the Pine Rivers Bridge.

Also spotted as part of the Traffic Branch's fleet was a Holden SS Ute and sporty black Volkswagen Golf.

The Chrysler 300C features a mean looking grille and is a favourite in rap music video clips because of its "gangster" look.

A police spokeswoman said the vehicle fleet was not restricted to "off the shelf" cars.

"Unmarked vehicles are among the QPS fleet and are utilised as executive vehicles and for covert operations," the spokeswoman said. "This includes Q-Cars used to detect motorists who drive irresponsibly on Queensland roads."

I like to think that the cops will be wearing big fur coats, pimp hats and carry a cane. Not to mention the oversized clock on a chain around their neck and the spinner wheels on the car.

Gozza got pulled over by the SS Ute just outside of Toowoomba. I have see that Ute a few times... I have also seen the Golf on the M1 a couple of times. A mate of mine got pulled over by a Hummer about 6 months ago.

The Hummers were loaned last year in direct response to worsening city violence, with the logic that they are more intimidating than a standard patrol car.

Some might remember the GTO cop car which got a lot of attention a few years ago.

From what i've heard there is a wrx unmarked cop car over wellington pt way. My brother in laws mate was telling me about how he went outside one day (early evening) and there was a black WRX with chromies out the front of his place that had pulled up a bogandore he said if it wasn't for the cop lights he would've passed it off as being a nice car, i would've found the nearest bat put on some welding gloves then squeezed it for guano for the wrxs' paint

It appears HSV loaned the car to the police as some kind of PR exercise, so the cost to taxpayers would presumably be negligible. The Hummer was a loan car of some sort too.

Mitsubishi is the lastest to loan a car to the police, but that's all it ever will be, it would cost plenty to keep a car like those in good running order. That and the fact that the little lancer battery keeps going flat from all the electrics that's hooked up to it.

They have had "exotic" unmarked cop cars on the south side of Brisbane for a while.
The ones that I have seen;
A Monaro with chromies and a harliquen paint job about 3-4 years ago.
A SS with custom number plates (V8 supercars theme) about 1-2 years ago.
Last I saw, they were using a black Holden ute and a red Toyota sportivo.
