Boosted drag day @ Calder 7/8/2010

Re: boosted Drag day?

Postby needfordspeed » May 18th, 2010, 12:32 am

It was 6600 for a week day and ~11k for a weekend thats for a car club.

What do people think of the deal I mentioned before? IMO it's a good deal, not as far as heathcote and we should get a fair few runs in? Ian was saying they're trying to get more clubs in there now.

If not, i'll just try and get a few mates together and go race and take advantage of this deal :P

BTW i'm down for Calder not Heathcote, if I had more faith in the car i'd be down for Heathcote lol.

Calder:
1.hiboost
2.SLY5LT.... BA-LTD.
3. MMD

It's an alright deal although I would still be suss on actually getting 7-8 runs. Even if we don't get to book Heathcote, we will still probably be the majority there and get a fair few runs as it doesnt pull the crowds like calder.

I reckon heathcote would be more suited.

heathcote might be open again for a private day now calder is back.
if we can get the numbers.
if you ran it with a few sites you'd have to do alright you'd think?
here, FM, maybe XFalcon?

I agree with this .
Maybe a Fm vs boosted vs X falcon day .

The 3 times ive got to calder i have been lucky to get 3 runs.
Everytime i go to heathcote i got a minimum of 10 runs .
I know its further but it just better place IMO .

And also i agree with a pre paid thing too .

This possibly has the potential to be a large and annual event if organised correctly and everything runs reasonably smooth.

Josh is on the money. I say bring back the good old days of E-Series vs R31 club meets at Heathcote!! Those were great fun, and no real pressure, just a good weekend of skids and stuffing around! I had my first ever run down the strip at an E vs R31 meet in the BargeEA! Ran a 17.7 or something. That's why I am sticking with Heathcote, as you couldn't have as much fun like that at Calder.

LOL, i was chatting to someone from the R31 club a few weeks ago, he attended our drag days back in the day.
He mentioned to me that some of the R31 club guys had mentioned the same thing, but they were a little concerned as alot more of us seem to have gone the boosted route these days.

lol, siiick! Those drag days were always the funniest shit ever! Was funny as to get a bunch of 15 second bangers running each other. If anyone dipped into the 14's they were a friggin champion!

I am well down for this, so long as it happens at Heathcote. What dates are we looking at? I will be in America for the first half of July, so thats out for me.

Im leaning towards Heathcote. People that pay big money for top cars at Calder dont want the track being held up because a 15 second car shat itself or anything. Im sure we could get a club to run against... OzE or ORSM? :P :P

The R31 Skyline club VS the eseries club such memories come back. I remeber taking home the trophy for one of those events. My car will be all tuned and ready to go by next week so cant wait to race her again. Especially against some skylines .

So is it going to be at Heathcote or Calder?
I like the idea of going to Clader as a club and getting a good deal with it,Calder isnt always packed,I got 5 runs in an hour last time i was there.
I cbf doing the numbers but is there any chance of getting $5000 with say Boosted,Ford Mods,FF and other clubs around aswell?

first we need numbers in who want to go to calder or heathcote.. then will decide according to numbers on where it will be held. if its big numbers for both will hold a boosted meet at calder an heathcote. bring anyone you want as long as its a FORD!
ill try to get some SPONSORS happening so the winner can get a PRIZE?

i dont think numbers will get alot bigger without being organised n shit.

think best idea would be heathcote (more relaxed n shit) and as said get ford mods and xfalcon n shit to join in to get numbers up.

Id be more inclined to run at Heathcote. Like I said, guys like you who are running awesomely quick cars dont want to be held up with a heap of slower cars when youve paid the amount Calder wants.

For a club event, Heathcote would be the best I think.

Alot of people i've been speaking to said they get a fair few runs these days since Calder re-opened. Also Ian said he can hold classes for beginners to show them the basics of what you need to do, they're really trying to get more clubs in, I think it'd be worth giving it a shot, it'd be closer for almost everyone!

Upto you guys though, maybe we can have a vote, if it turns out being at Calder i'll organise it all and do the running around. If it's at Heathcote I can help out but not sure if i'll be there on the day, unless it turns out being a proper club event (hire out the track styles) then i'll probably come as a spectator and can help out on the day.

Oh and BTW if it's going to be a club even then yeah I guess Heathcote depending on how much it costs, I didn't find out. There's no chance we'll get enough numbers to afford Calder for a private day. Maybe we could see how much interest we get first then think about hiring a whole track later on?

I would be in for Calder, but not heathcote, not in my car anyway.
At Calder you would still get 5-6 runs, especially if you were prepared, and not muck around.
They also have saturday street meets, which may suit some better as well.
And yes they also have classes for beginners, which helps out so you look good out there.
As previously said Calder will try and help out where possible.

Calder:
1.hiboost
2.SLY5LT.... BA-LTD.
3. MMD
4. Snypereb
5. Holmsy
6.Brockyb8
7.eboost
8. Lukeh
9. Michael (HYPOEB)
10.burnt turtle
11. ruleford
12. pHaT`eL
