Track Day Licences - What you need

So you want to take your car to a race track... no idea where to start?

Here are some tips

There are two track licenses available to most normal folk.
This should give you an idea of whats required for each licence and just how easy it is to get started.

CAMS (Confederate of Australia Motorsport) License - Level 2S (Speed license)

Allows for entry into various club, sprint, regularity, touring road, and motorkhana events held at Philip Island Circuit, Sandown Raceway, Winton Raceway, Calder Park, Shepparton DECA, Avalon Autocross, Queensland Raceway, Wakefield Park, and more. For full list of venues

Cost of license:
$95

Method:
* Join a CAMS affiliated club (any one will do), choose from a club

Note that there may be separate club fees you will need to pay to the club itself.
* Download form

* Fill in the blanks and then submit form in person or by mail with payment (credit card is also accepted) to: MEMBER SERVICES, PO BOX 427, CAULFIELD EAST, VIC 3145
* They will send you your license via mail, generally within 2 weeks.

License Lasts 1 Year.

Some CAMS affiliated clubs to give you an idea of Price (you only need to join one club, normally attendance/participation are not required). Also note that any make of car can generally join any club. IE. You DO NOT need to drive an MX5 to join the MX5 club.

* Honda Car Club of Victoria (HCCV) - $35
* Improved Production Racing Association - $55
* MX5 Club of Victoria - $61
* Volkwagen Club of Victoria - $65
* Skylines Australia (SAU) - $70





AASA (Australian Autosport Alliance) License - Club Racing License
Allows for entry into various club and sprint events held at Adelaide International Raceway, Calder Park, Queensland Raceway, Wakefield Park and Winton Raceway.

$50

Method:

Great post!

What about a list of common club track/open days which are pretty low-key and not too serious? I'd like to take my car for a blat but not be involved in serious competition...
