Just seems too good to be true, and lets not get started on the dyno figure ay. But if it is true, you heard it from me first I wonder how the ZF version would go, should be a fair bit quicker, can't wait to see what the aftermarket guys do with one of these.
Hi,
I just ran the new BOSS 335 GT at WSID tonight, it reeled of the following times.
This car is a 6 speed manual, and I did the times with the traction control turned off.
13.21@112.20mph
12.92@113.99mph :drivin: :worship:
13.66@108.59mph (tramping and spinning the tyres in 2nd)
13.96@96.44 (tramping and spinning the tyres in 2nd)
15.00@109.68mph (tramping and spinning the tyres in 1st and 2nd)
I will have pics and slips up tomorrow.
Times were run with the car weighing in at 1822kg WITHOUT driver.
I'm at least 120kg.
Full street trim, BP Ultimate, factory tyres (didn't let the tyre pressure down either)
No changes to the car at all from when I picked it up from Ford.
Here is the clincher, forget the decals on the gaurd that say 335, we dynoed the car on Gerry's Automotive Dyno Dynamics dyno prior to going to the track.
Gerry dynoed my XW and that has run the correct mph for the given rwhp my XW has, so there is no need for me to dispute these figures.
It did have Gerry and me scratching our heads though!
It spat out...353rwkw! That's 473.9rwhp! I'm not joking!
The worst run was 465rwhp.
We decided to check how much boost this car was REALLY making, it turns out it was more than the Ford quoted figure of 6psi.
It was 7.1psi at peak 473.9rwhp. Torque peaked at 1700N.
The 465rwhp run, it made 9.1psi.
Just imagine what the power will be when the aftermarket guys get hold of them?
Ford really has produced an animal here to hand HSV and other cars their backside on a silver platter!
Do yourself a favour and test drive one upon release.
Imagine this driveline in an early girl with about 250-300kg less weight = EVEN BIGGER WEAPON!
WELL DONE FORD!
I guess the days of Ford understating their power levels have made a return, ala 1970's style.
Come to think of it back then the Jap cars were 4 cylinders and fuel efficient while the Phase 3 guzzled it.
Today we have the Toyota Prius Hydrid using less fuel etc and Ford bringing back the BIFF!
I just hope it doesn't become another Supercar Scare...actually I do.
I better go order a 'green' BOSS 335 GT-H...
Cheers,
Roy
ps My time is 0.5 seconds quicker and 3mph faster than 'other' magazines!
