FG GT 335 runs a 12.9 @ 113MPH Manual!

Postby needfordspeed » October 20th, 2010, 11:07 pm

Copied from: http://forum.streetfords.com.au/showthread.php?t=4975

Just seems too good to be true, and lets not get started on the dyno figure ay. But if it is true, you heard it from me first :P I wonder how the ZF version would go, should be a fair bit quicker, can't wait to see what the aftermarket guys do with one of these.

Hi,

I just ran the new BOSS 335 GT at WSID tonight, it reeled of the following times.

This car is a 6 speed manual, and I did the times with the traction control turned off.

13.21@112.20mph

12.92@113.99mph :drivin: :worship:

13.66@108.59mph (tramping and spinning the tyres in 2nd)

13.96@96.44 (tramping and spinning the tyres in 2nd)

15.00@109.68mph (tramping and spinning the tyres in 1st and 2nd)

I will have pics and slips up tomorrow.

Times were run with the car weighing in at 1822kg WITHOUT driver.

I'm at least 120kg.

Full street trim, BP Ultimate, factory tyres (didn't let the tyre pressure down either)

No changes to the car at all from when I picked it up from Ford.

Here is the clincher, forget the decals on the gaurd that say 335, we dynoed the car on Gerry's Automotive Dyno Dynamics dyno prior to going to the track.

Gerry dynoed my XW and that has run the correct mph for the given rwhp my XW has, so there is no need for me to dispute these figures.

It did have Gerry and me scratching our heads though!

It spat out...353rwkw! That's 473.9rwhp! I'm not joking!

The worst run was 465rwhp.

We decided to check how much boost this car was REALLY making, it turns out it was more than the Ford quoted figure of 6psi.

It was 7.1psi at peak 473.9rwhp. Torque peaked at 1700N.

The 465rwhp run, it made 9.1psi.

Just imagine what the power will be when the aftermarket guys get hold of them?

Ford really has produced an animal here to hand HSV and other cars their backside on a silver platter!

Do yourself a favour and test drive one upon release.

Imagine this driveline in an early girl with about 250-300kg less weight = EVEN BIGGER WEAPON!

WELL DONE FORD! :)

I guess the days of Ford understating their power levels have made a return, ala 1970's style.

Come to think of it back then the Jap cars were 4 cylinders and fuel efficient while the Phase 3 guzzled it.

Today we have the Toyota Prius Hydrid using less fuel etc and Ford bringing back the BIFF!

I just hope it doesn't become another Supercar Scare...actually I do.

I better go order a 'green' BOSS 335 GT-H... ;)

Cheers,

Roy

ps My time is 0.5 seconds quicker and 3mph faster than 'other' magazines!

Same haha. The dyno figure is the part that I still cant get over... an extra 20kw, at the wheels over whats quoted at the fly... I wonder why the boost varied so much though?

i don't doubt the time... hopefully they can run high 12's. but the power??? i doubt that! it only ran 113mph, which ain't 350kw. My BA did 118mph with 325kw.. and it wouldn't be much lighter than an FG. i would say it has about 310rwkw.

The way I'm reading it Ford have it right. 335kw at fly would be 270odd at rears.

My mates 5 speed ba gt made 270rwkw, and ran a 13.0 at 113 odd mph.

Seems like ford are quoting just fine??

Test cars are always tuned accordingly

I red an autobiography by Dick Johnson and one of his first contracts was fitting bigger cams to Fiat's that were to be driven by journo's

So i'm not surprised that this car had more boost than quoted

The real test will be when someone buys one and takes that to the track and throws it on the dyno

i find it hard to believe that ford underquoted the power by about 80kw, when the mph vs weight it runs is fairly close to the claimed power.

That's mint, can't wait to buy one of these second hand in a few years :P

Like I said before, I can't wait till someone races a ZF one of these bad boys, everyone knows how hard these things are to race when they're manual should be a easy low 12 in it.

The only thing stopping me going out and wasting a fuckload of money on one right now is that they don't have a good looking variant :P Here's hoping GTE will deliver in the looks dept or some other special with better wheels or sumps.

I might have to eat my words on this thing. The drag times are impressive but I was more impressed with the footage from courtney driving it at bathurst.

I guess the other thing thats relevant to the quarter time is that it obviously has pretty intrusive traction/stability control that can likely be removed for better times on the strip.

They're making a GS ute right? *Sells ute*

I still prefer the sound of an F6/turbo I6 with gate but that sounds fucken sick. Can't wait for the first youtube video of a powerskid from one of these things from the side of the road, blower whine then exhaust roar as it goes past, kenne bell mustang style :)

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on BoostedFalcon, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car... I'm on a computer.

These dyno's need to be calibrated properly. Motor Magazine got 256rwkw for the GS. There is no way the GT is 320+rwkw. Just an example of tuners exaggerating to their prospective customers! They probably get 380rwkw out of an FG XR6T without changing the turbo too! Wankers!

If you signed up to performance forums and read the thread, the response to the initial dyno was exactly that - everyone said get fucked.

Dales specific words were "bet it dosen't make 353rwkw on my dyno lol" so they took it to his workshop for the specific purpose of proving the other dyno wrong. Technically, they did, because the car only ran 328rwkw on his dyno....but it still made 328rwkw, which is a fanciful ~2% drivetrain loss of the claimed 335 flywheel kw, and a mega shitload of power for an apparently stock production falcon.

I'm also unsure as to why the tuners would exaggerate the dyno readings of a stock car, because that would mean the difference in the before and after dynos would not be as great, which would make them look less good than a massive difference in before/after.
