Gonna start a project in the new year with the guys from trade school.

Just wanna know what you guys have done and any words of advice.
Gonna try low budget but still spend some coin so used parts and ebay.
What should we buy?
What should we stay away from?

We will be getting an EF and doing work on that

Low budget?
E-series?

How are you going to achieve this?

Take the interior out, put a good seat in it (sheetmetal ftw), 13in steering wheel, keep it NA, minispool, put the highest rate (stiffest) springs in it you can find (nothing off the shelf). Front end alignment with a bit of camber, as much caster as you can get on it, equal toe. That is all.

Why keep it na?
what does the max caster give you?
13inch steering wheel?
being an ef with the square boss, would i need to put an ea-ed steering coloum in?

N/A will be plenty to start with. My opinion- If you do a half arsed job turboing it you'll be fucking around blowing it up and fixing it until you realise it needs to be done properly.

Just find a small steering wheel, doesn't really matter on the exact size.

You want as much caster as you can because it will help the car steer itself when you get it sideways.

Understandable.
Dont wanna be blowing shit up.

Everything we do will just be learning.

As for learning to drift,
Are thetr courses or training days?

Get a big regrind cam (ring wade, they do more than what they list, there are a few that are too big for street use but will work really well for a drift car that you want to have power at around 5000-6500rpm)
Straights are for fast cars... Turns are for fast drivers

There is drift school in victoria. Just google "drift school" should come up. Bit pricy tho.

If its drift id be putting some mean negative camber on the front wheels with a toe out and also pushing the front wheels out away from the car (spacers) usually helps with the oversteer.
