You won't find many quick cars running standard valve springs

although it does suffer alot of blow by at and over 18psi, after a few hard bursts it blew the dipstick out..lol..
the spark plugs are gapped down to.6mm to stop blow out.
i havent noticed any problems with the valve springs so far, but at 20psi i cant see it being trouble free for long, this engine has spent the last 2 years/30.000km on 12psi.
its currently at 15psi and now has better breathers and catch can and so far its all still good :D ...

by standard springs he means standard xr springs. standard falcon engines have different valve springs to the xr6 engine, so troyman would b running xr6 springs as he has the xr6 motor

Sorry i didn't mean to say that 11s aren't quick, just that most people upgrade valve springs at the very least when adding boost, so not many setups around using standard springs.

I could try my gt42 with standard au valve springs if you like? Lol

Should join LS1 forums - plenty of different categories that you can make up to be number 1!

Seriously though, high 11s on an old banger is nice going!

LOL Private9 I'm not looking for No' 1 I'll leave that to the guys with the VL's, I was more curious if it's common to push em to 10's. I honestly though the first reply would be "Sinan did a 10.00 with a log manifold and stock 300k engine on street tyre's"

Dunno about 10.0. But he Sinan has always said stock motor and auto are good for 10's.

Sinans best time was 10.7@ 121mph with stock auto and bottom end, but I'm sure he had head work.

do u really class valve springs as engine work?

u have a different cam thats more engine work than valve springs imo.
yeah sinan went 10.7 on stock bottom end not sure about the head.
that was with 280-330rwkw or something so urs should be close to that.
i was talking to him the night he ran it.
cheers josh.

Shit thread. Define stock engine?

Not many turbo falcons will still be using the standard valve springs or head gasket. Thats not stock to me.

mine is...
mines still on the factory head gasket and std valve springs....
the only questionable part in mine is the cam.

imo a stock engine is stock bottom end, std head, std valve springs std compression..

Is it questionable or aftermarket?

This thread should be called "create a class where I am the only contender so I'm no. 1. "

This is awesome! - because of this thread I'm going to have the fastest EB Fairmont turbo that has been converted from auto to manual then had an AU motor fitted then converted back to auto then turbo'd then blown up then had another AU motor fitted then blown up again and caught fire then had a whole new interior and wiring harness put in with an ED motor which then had a VCT head put on then blown up again and then had a built motor put in with a non-VCT head (and will probably blow up again...).

How bloody good is that!!!!!!!
